Adobe Photoshop Template instead of InDesign?
Before I publish my magazine I thought I would look at how you guys setup the template. My mag uses the specs you specify however I'm a little nervous to simply upload it and hope for the best.
Would it be possible to add a photoshop compatible template instead of indesign? As a college student I just cant afford to purchase another product from Adobe even with my discount.
I'm really looking forward to using magcloud for my mag however!

Inappropriate? The templates are intended as a starting point to create documents with the appropriate MagCloud dimensions and bleed settings. Since Photoshop only allows you to design one page at a time, and MagCloud bleed settings vary based on which side of the page the binding is on, separate templates will be needed to create left vs. right-hand pages.
I will post both of these to the blog ASAP, but in the meantime, check the following to ensure that the PDF you already created conforms to MagCloud standards and that none of your content will be inadvertently lost in trimming:
- each page of the PDF is a single page of your magazine (as opposed to a two-page spread)
- all pages are the same size (8.5" x 11")
- the total page count is a multiple of 4
- there isn't any content within 0.25" of the left edge of your lefthand pages and 0.25" of the right edge of your righthand pages that you don't want cropped off
- there isn't any content within 0.125" of the top and bottom edges of all pages that you don't want cropped off
Hope that helps!

Inappropriate?I am confused. Aren't you supposed to make sure that there isn't any content within 0.25 inches of the right edge of the lefthand pages and 0.25 inches of the left edge of the righthand pages?

Inappropriate? The bleed on a MagCloud magazine only goes around the outside edges of the magazine - so the outside edge is where you have to allow 0.25" of content-less space that will be trimmed off in the finishing stage (with the exception of any photos you want to bleed off the edge of the page).
I believe what you are thinking of is a gutter on the inside edge of the page, which is needed with perfect binding to ensure that content is not lost in the bind. MagCloud magazines are saddle-stitch bound, so you do not need to account for a gutter in your design. -
Inappropriate? The pages template really helps me out. I was starting to get really confused with the pdf requirements and actually being able to look at it instead of rely on numbers changes things drastically.
Now I just need to find time to make my magazine!
I’m thankful
