Delete Projects
The ability to delete projects would be great. Of course, preceded by a "Are you sure" dialog would be helpful to prevent my dumb ass from getting rid of the wrong project

Brent,
We have a solution in place that we want you to check out and see how it works. It is a short-term solution to your problem of deleting projects from your list. You simply remove yourself from the project and 'presto', it won't show up in your dropdown. You do this by going to the team page and clicking the REMOVE button by your own name.
We want a longer term, more robust solution to the challenge of project membership. After wresting around with how to elegantly implement a solution to the recent points you raised, we decide on this:
1. The person who initiates a project is a super-user (called "project owner")
2. Super-user can add/remove, update contact information and any other admin activity.
3. Super-user can assign his/her super-user rights to another person.
4. The last super-user is the only person who can un-archive a project
5. Projects with a single user can be archived for later retrieval. Archived projects will not show in the dropdown.
The scenarios you described would play out like this:
A) Producer is the super-user. He removes the director from the project. Since the director is not the super-user, he cannot re-add himself. The super user can also deny invite privileges for anyone but himself if he chooses to keep the director from back-dooring a new invitation.
B) Producer promotes the writer to the super-user so he/she owns the project. The producer then leaves or is removed by the now super-user writer so the writer can find a new producer. If the writer wants to archive the project for the time being, he can. Since he was the last super-user he can unarchive the project at any time.
What do you think? we are still in the planning stage for the memberships/super-user feature so your input now would be really helpful.
In the meantime, feel free to remove yourself from any project you don't want to see in your dropdown anymore.

Brent,
Thanks for taking the time to give us this feedback. Anything that comes up in our first set of users is going to get obvious attention. You guys are going to be the first ones to notice the warts. Producers want to keep things tidy, the rest of our production lives are RARELY in control. The few things we do have control over, we like to keep neat and clean.

Inappropriate?Hello.
I understand that would would like to be able to remove a project. We are certainly interested in accommodating our users and working with their process.
So that we can be sure to understand the motivation behind this change to the software we would like to understand how and when something like this could be used.
Do you find that you have a few projects that are in the way and that are making it hard for you to select your current project?
Thank you very much for your idea! Even though we cannot implement every idea, we really really appreciate and need to hear your suggestions.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Curtis,
Your first reply was a bit wierd. I think you may have been thinking about something else very intently, as your apt to do, and foolishly missed a chance to implement the *FIRST* user requested feature!!
I do however agree with you Curtis that it would be very lovely to know what the user needs and wants in there application. We would be delighted to tailor an application to your needs!
:D
- Curtis.
- I keep forgetting my email. Does anyone else need a feature for that? -
Inappropriate?Curtis,
The need to this request to delete project comes from the very first step of walking through a demo with Shannon prior to sign up.
We set up a 'test' project to allow him to show me how Market7 works. The name had nothing to do with my intentions and is not a project I'd or anyone else would ultimately have an interest in.
I just like to keep things tidy and a 'delete project' feature would allow me to clean up from time to time.
Thanks for all the great work. I'm loving everything about the collaboration and getting to bang on the software. -

Inappropriate?Hey Brett.
We have this new feature for you in a "Ready State" as well as a few other little tweaks to the site.
Because we still need to verify that any changes made will not break the software or put you out of an application over the weekend, we are going to hold off on doing a release.
We have also been looking into how to implement your other suggestion around linking between files and assets.
Thank you so much for your support.
I’m disapointed that our user will have to wait a little while, but happy that we can give you quality.

Inappropriate?I'm not sure what you guys have planned to implement the "delete project" feature but it would be cool if there was a link just below the "Add New Project" drop down that had a "Manage Projects" link.
The link could load the center content frame with a list of projects and options such as "hide" or "delete" (whatever you term effective for this first round).
I understand concerns for locking users out of a script but I also think being able to delete projects may be an important concern for Producers/Writers down the line.
One person would be the originator of the Project and would be the ultimate veto voice. This same person would be the one who invites others of their choice to view and collaborate on the project (is that a correct assumption?)
That one person may want to have ultimate control of the project and who is able to view it, including locking certain persons out from a team or an entire team all together.
Many scenarios I've seen over the years go down as such:
Scenario A:) Producer initiates a job and hires a writer, director and crew to do the shoot.
Weeks pass and the writer and her husband (who happens to be the Key Grip on the job) have a falling out with the Director in an argument. The Producer is asked to let the Key Grip and the Writer go. The Producer needs to hire a new writer and Key Grip as well as lock out the old Writer and Key Grip from being able to see the script and team info.
This is a hostile scenario where viewers of the script become a liability to the project and need to be removed forcefully for collaborating with the project.
Scenario B:) Writer/Director creates a script and gets a team involved for collaboration. Writer hires Producer out of her pocket and and they try to sell the script for months with no success. Producer says "Thanks for the chance" and leaves the project. The writer has all rights to the script and as the originator of the content but needs a new Producer to help find a buyer. The Writer puts the script in "Delete Limbo" (possibly hidden in the "Manage Projects" view for the Writer only) and looks for another Producer. Writer finds a Producer who is in with an indie distribution company and sends an invite to the script for the New Executive Producer as well as the new Producer and production team that got the green light. Old Producer is not able to see the script after 're-activating' the script from the "Deleted" view of the "Manage Projects" bin.
This is a peaceful scenario where the first Producer is a trusted collaborator but is no longer involved in the project. Even though they may be fond of the script and have ideas, they are not related to the team anymore and the originator of the project should have the right to 'un-invite' them from the party.
Just a couple different ways that I can see regular business going down... -

Inappropriate?I like the current solution for "deleting" ones self from a project...
It seems to be a great method for allowing people to choose to leave a project without affecting progress of the project.
The button title "Remove" may be better off named as "Remove Me" or "Remove from Project".
When I clicked on the team tab of a project I wanted to remove myself from, there were multiple team member icons amongst mine. For a split second the button title of "Remove" made me wonder, "Am I removing myself from the team only and not the entire project?"

Inappropriate?Projects can be de-activated (& subsequently re-activated) from My_Account page of the account holder
I’m glad to demonstrate we get around to things, sometimes within a week (like Brent's recent suggestion of faster speech estimation in script) sometimes in a year (like this request of Brent's)
