Movie file - custom display frame thumbnail
For movie files in the Script Editor 'Media' column, it would be great to have the ability to choose the display frame instead of the slate icon.
I know this is on the to-do list, I just wanted to put in a vote for it...

Brent,
We have added the filename below the slate and we will be deploying the next version early next week. That should be a stop gap for multiple videos in the script.
I’m pleased to offer a stopgap solution.

This one is tricky as it involves our player turning into an image exporter which currently has no ability to do built into it. This one might be a longer-term fix. (One of the engineers should correct me on this if I am not accurate)
Would a shorter-term fix of adding the ability to upload a thumbnail suffice? It would involve the user creating a jpeg or other image to act as the thumbnail outside of M7 and then uploading it (likely on the files or annotative player page) to act as the thumbnail in place of the slate.
Also, how would you expect to differentiate an image from a video with the same image as the thumbnail? Would a small play area over the image hint that it wasn't an image but a video instead?

Inappropriate?Understood that it may be a long term fix...
Short term solution doesn't seem to need a quick fix as it's not really broken in my opinion. I don't think it's worth the time to build an interface for users to generate thumbnails to import if you are going to build some type of frame selector function down the road.
Maybe just adding the file name to the slate would be a worthy stop gap.
That's the big problem with only having slate icons in a long script...slate indicates a movie file, but which one?
I like your idea to put a small player timeline above or below a movie file icon.
That would be an awesome option if you could play the thumbnail view right in the script without having to reload the page or even wait for a pop up player to load. -

Inappropriate?Nice...should be a helpful addition.
Thanks. -
Inappropriate? An automated mechanism to extract thumbnails is really really close to being ready!!! :D
