Why can I only "love" friends' posts?
I see the "Love" feature implemented, nice start!
Why can I only "love" posts from my friends though?
Also, and I know this is subjective nit-picking, I don't like the word "love" for the feature. It's a little too much...what if I simply "like" a post? I might hesitate to click "love" simply because I don't like it THAT much.

Inappropriate? When you follow someone, their posts are copied to a db table just for you. In the everyone timeline, you're just looking at the original db object. Tthere's no state for whether or not you've already loved a post within the original object, leading to some UI confusion. We're working on a solution to this, but decided it was worth rolling the feature out now. In the meantime, you can love any post you want by clicking on the timestamp to view the single-post detail page.
As for the name, we picked it because that was the most common term from users when declaring their admiration for something. We noticed that, especially outside of coathangr, people (okay, mostly women) would always say something like "oh, I love your shoes!"
