Mediabistro.com needs a library/bookstore!
I would love to see Media Bistro add a "library" section to its web site. I've taken Media Bistro courses, and the teachers usually have book suggestions. This library section could contain links to a variety of writing books and other writers resources for sale on Amazon.com, for example. To take it further, this library could be arranged by category--reference books, journalism books, memoir writing (Zinsser's books, Brenda Ueland, etc., research for writers, screenwriting, etc. Each category has its known books, such as Robert McKee's "Story", Carol Bly's Beyond the Writer's Workshop, but wouldn't it be great to see these lists on Media Bistro? With links to buy these books directly? The idea came to me because my husband is interested in freelance business writing. I have little experience in this area and couldn't recommend books. I spent hours on the web, and couldn't find one good source for business freelance writing books. This seems like it would be of great use to MB's members. I sure would love it. I have pages and pages of book lists from graduate school, but to find such lists (with links to buy) online would be priceless. MB writing class teachers should also add their recommended reading lists to the "library" for reference and purchase later. Thoughts?

Inappropriate?Hey Lauren,
Thank you for this great idea. Some others have expressed an idea similar to this in the past. There are some services like Goodreads, as well as some Facebook applications that have the functionality you're talking about. Goodreads even lets you integrate their service onto other websites.
I'll definitely discuss this idea with everyone at MB.
I’m thankful for this great idea
