MP4 Files Not Visible when Browsing for Lyric Cue Background Cues Only
In both Mediashout 3.5 and Mediashout 4 i am experiencing this problem.
I encode very high bitrate stock videos into compressed video files to use in Mediashout (MP4 Container, H.264 Video, No Audio). When browsing for these files in Windows Explorer, they are visible. If i drag-n-drop the files into Mediashout, they play great! If i right click in a Mediashout script and "insert" a "video file" i can browse to the files and find them, and fire them in the script. If i have a lyric cue, and attempt to locate the video files through the "background" tab of the lyric cue to open files, they ARE NOT visible. I must change the file type to "ALL FILES" instead of video files. Frustrating, cause mediashout defaults to the latter.
Why would my MP4 files be visible when browsing in a Video cue as opposed to a Lyric cue?
Any idea what's going on here Mediashout?

Inappropriate?Make sure that shout isn't looking for a graphic file within yopur lyric cue.
-
Inappropriate?haha. Yeah, i would feel stupid if that were the case...but it isn't. :) It is looking for a video file (per the video file button at the top of the dialog box and the "file type" below the file name field at bottom of dialog)

Inappropriate?I am working with V4 now and it is listed as an option under "All Video Files". By default, the "Type" is "Video For Windows"
-
Inappropriate?Yes, that is true. It is listed as an option under "All Video Files" but it doesn't actually show up....at least, not in my particular case.
-
Inappropriate?I get it now. When you are looking for the files, they are not visable as if they are not a supported file type unless you choose all file types. Correct?
-
Inappropriate?You are correct Sir!
-
Inappropriate? It could be that there are so many different kinds of MP4 files (compression, frame rate, bit rate, frame size, ect.ect) that the ones you create, although Shout will play them, they just are not recognized.
-
I did some testing with some MP4 youtube video and they were visable. -
Hmm. I was afraid of that. I would be the only one. haha. I am sure it has to do with the technicalities of the MP4 file. It is the same on all my computers with the particular file type i output from Adobe Premiere or Encode with Mediacoder. MP4 Container, no audio, H.264 encoded video stream. -
Inappropriate? As long as you can find them and they play, that is the important thing.
-
Inappropriate?I cannot get MS 3.5 to play MP4. I can insert video and select the file (animoto slideshow) and MS shuts down. Any thoughts?
I’m frustrated!

Inappropriate?Sounds like a codec issue. Have you ever installed any K-lite codec packs? If not go here and get the mega pack. http://www.free-codecs.com/ Also check here for more info and instructions for installing http://getsatisfaction.com/mediacompl...
