New Build of MediaShout V4 available! (b153)
MediaShout Version 4.4, build 153 has recently been released as an update for existing users.
BUILD FIXES INCLUDE:
This build incorporates a large set of changes we've been working on behind the scenes for a few months: a large-scale overhaul of the way MediaShout loads and handles Scripts & Cues. The final results of this overhaul will mean faster and cleaner performance.
UPDATE (NathanH): Unfortunately, as documented by the comments below, we're experiencing way too many problems with this build. I'm pulling it down until we can get a new version with these issues fixed.
For users who have downloaded and installed b153: Please uninstall the program and then re-install: this will, most likely, fix your errors.

Inappropriate?Does this build (which I was a beta tester for) fix the flashing video problem? I did not see that within this notice or the complete list of fixes. I am referring to any video file except .wmv
I’m frustrated
-
Unfortunately, the black flash bug experienced in the beta builds still exists as of b153. A couple of things to note here - both of these are good news, but with a bit of a downside. I'll start with the negative...
:: This appears to only affect a small number of hardware/software combinations. So while this will still be an issue for a small segment of users, we felt the overall improvements in performance and bug fixes warranted our deployment of this build without any further delay.
:: Since you're a beta tester, you'll be happy to know that I believe we've fixed this along with another round of changes in a new beta build we're releasing this week. There are quite a few other under-the-hood tweaks we've made, so this will still require an entire full cycle of testing. -
Inappropriate?Glad to get the new update!
Unfortunately after running it, this is what I get. None of the other updates had any errors for me.
First I get this:
Then after 4 OK clicks I get this:
If I enter my license, I get this:
If I try the activate manually using a web browser I get this:
I’m just chillin till this is right
-
ok. this build updated the nalpeiron service and looks like there was a .dll problem in isolated situations. The good news is twofold:
- you should be able to fix the -108 error by completely uninstalling b153 and reinstalling.
- we've posted a replacement build with a different nalpeiron .dll that should fix the problem for new installs.
let me know if the uninstall/reinstall works for you. -
nato - how do I uninstall b153? I am running XP Pro and thought I was somewhat PC savvy but when I look in Add/Remove Programs, I just see MS4 and all my old MS3 updates, nothing specific to the MS4 b153 or any other MS4 update. -
do you still have the installer file? just run the installer and it will load as an uninstaller. choose 'uninstall' and you're set. -
"let me know if the uninstall/reinstall works for you."
Yes it did! thx again. -
Inappropriate?I have a similar problem as PastorDrew. the difference is that I get "Error -63: Service missing" I tried to go back to b144 but when I clicked on the 144.setup.exe the computer said it was already updated and would not let me finish that install either. It worked flawlessly just before I did the update tonight.
I have to work tomorrow and won't get back to church until 6pm. Church starts at 6pm!! HELP!!!!!!!
I’m freakin' out!!
-
In going into License Manager.exe I found the following statement when trying to reactivate the license : "AstSrv.exe is missing. Reinstall product." -
Yikes, I have until Sunday, and fortunately didn't run the update on my office notebook yet. If you come to Jacksonville, I'll let you borrow it :) -
I'm guessing you've got a 64-bit OS?
Check for a file "nlssrv32.exe" in C:\Windows\System32. If it's not there, copy it from C:\Windows\SysWOW64 and put it in C:\Windows\System32. Reboot.
That should fix the problem (I hope). -
I have the same Error -63 promlem. I downloaded b153 at 11:23am, 3/3/2010 (about 1 hour ago). Is there a patch since then? -
Inappropriate? There is a solution, but I need to clarify something first. So I am checking into it. But try a repair of the update by running it again and reboot the PC.
-
No dice, just did that. Good suggestion though! -
I have tried System Restore, going back to the Restore point prior to update of MS4 tonight and a point of last week with no change. I will try to run the update again and reboot. -
Same as PastorDrew, no good here either. See Matthew's reply below, I sometimes get that message about Nalpeiron -
can you guys with the -63 error try uninstalling and reinstalling to see if that corrects the problem? after trying that, if you're still having the trouble, try uninstalling and re-downloading the 153 build from the email. we've updated the installer file, which replaces a .dll file and will hopefully fix your problem if it still persists. -
Inappropriate?I have a completely different problem...I noticed it seems the audio actually CUTS OFF....YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, the default setting for audio when you set advance at the end of ST that it also changes to play 1 time and end at cue!!!!
However, now it will not play all files by double clicking audio files...what to do?
The only way to play certain audio files is hit the play button down on the bottom controllers...not a consistent problem, but a problem that seems to exist on 1 or 2 files
I’m pleased but still anticipate more work
-
Sorry Jonathan we passed you right up in the flurry of 108 errors.
What you are seeing is correct. This is the default settings for end of ST.
If you want it to stop at the end of the ST then it will only play once. And if it the ST of a cue usually it is only for that one cue. But none of this is set in stone and can be changed to suit your needs. As far as the other issue, if it only happens with the same songs then the songs may be the issue. Are they in the same place as the others. I know if i play a song from a network drive it takes a few seconds to load up. -
Inappropriate?I am having the same issue. I am getting the error "License Manager. Error -63: Service Missing". This started happening after the update. Thanks and God bless.

I am getting this same error before the other errors sometimes. Other times it just displays Error -63: Service Missing -
Inappropriate?Nato is correct, just simply uninstall MediaShout 4 from Add/Remove Programs and reinstall using the 153 update. You WILL NOT loose any libraries or personal files. You may have to reapply your work space and any custom settings.
-
That was certainly re-assuring when I did this and did not lose any of my settings. Thank You Jesus and thank you MediaShout!!!!! -
Inappropriate?I uninstalled the update and reinstalled the new update and this worked for me. Thank you!
I’m thankful!
-
did you try reinstalling the original file first, or did you just immediately download the new file? Just checking to try and troubleshoot others. -
Me too, thanks Nato. Now to make sure all my settings and stuff are like I had them...lol -
I tried to repair the installation with the original update, but that did not work. I then uninstalled the original update and downloaded the new update and installed it. That worked for me. -
Nato - I uninstalled the update, reinstalled the new file and it worked for me. Sorry that I didn't try reinstalling the old file first, it's late here and I want to get this done. I had previously tried the "Repair" with the old file and that did not make any change. Hopefully that information will help. -
Matthew - did you just try repairing the original or did you try uninstall/reinstall? -
Nato - I repaired at first. That did not work. Once you suggested uninstalling and reinstalling the newer update, I did that, which solved the issue. Does that make sense? -
I tried a repair/restart which didn't work, but was able to uninstall/renistall the original b153 no problem. Now I have a flicker during video bg's but that will be an issue to tackle later. Wow, I've never seen a thread grow so fast!
(some dweeb took up half of it with many screenshots...) -
I have a quick question. I am trying to restore my layout to the way it was pre-update and I cannot remember how to add something. I want to add the Cue Deck as a tab on the left of the screen with the Elements, Songs, Bible, Text, and File tabs that are there by default. I can open the Cue Deck, but cannot remember how to give it its own tab. Thank you. -
Matthew - you should be able to drag the Cue Deck up near the main deck toolbar. The opacity of the deck should change and appear as if it's making itself a tab. Then its just a matter of dragging it along the toolbar to the desired spot. -
You will find the decks under Window -

Just got it. Thanks John and Nato. I was not dragging it in the right spot. I guess that is a sign it is getting late. Thank you both for all of the help tonight. -
Inappropriate?sorry for the installer problems. hopefully this will take care of them all. on the bright side, we're working on some new beta builds that include even more speed/performance improvements. There's still a host of issues to test, but I'm hopeful we'll be able to release this soon.
-
I had the Error Code 63 problem after installing update 153 this morning. I removed the program & reinstalled through the update link in my email and that did it! I'm so glad it worked. MS4 is running faster than before, nice. :) -

The usual culprit is lack of directx9.0c files so you may need to re-install DirectX 9.0c. It will not downgrade what you have, but it will install certain files found only in 9. Shout is dependent on these files. You can either use the August 2009 DirectX Web Installer or if you want to save a copy for future use, use the DirectX End-User Runtimes (August 2009) -
Thanks for the quick reply. I tried what you suggested, even restarted to make sure and I still get the same error. -

Inappropriate? When you say "uninstall the program" do you mean just b153 or all of MediaShout?
-
Add/Remove Programs > MediaShout 4 (you can't just remove b153). -
Inappropriate?I uninstalled the program and then reinstalled using b153 and everything SEEMS to be working fine for now.
-
Inappropriate? So the build 153 is no longer available via the email link, Does this mean that we should NOT install this update? Or wait for a better update? I'm afraid to install anything right now based on the above comments, because my pastor tends to blame me if MS doesn't run perfectly.
-
The issues are during install: I'd recommend waiting until we can get a better installer so you won't have problems. After install, users find that it's a great program! -
Thanks, I'll wait until you get it worked out. -
Inappropriate?Although I did not encounter any of the above problems upgrading to 153, it does drop the audio level on DVD playbacks by over 70% compared to other media in the script. We have a major DVD presentation this Sunday, so I've rolled back to 144.
-
Inappropriate?Good evening -
Our church has a site license for MediaShout and I upgraded the software on my home (testing) PC from V4 b144 to b153 tonight. When I opened Mediashout, I received the following error:
then this error:
I clicked on "Activate my license" since we already had a serial number, but after I entered it and clicked Activate, I still continued to get the error on the second picture above.
When I went to My Computer > Manage > Services, the next picture is what was displayed when I tried to start the service:
I haven't been able to open MediaShout since b153 was installed, and there have been no issues with licensing on the upgrade builds I've installed in the past.
Any suggestions?

I’m hoping this will be an easy fix...

Inappropriate?I noticed you removed b153. Are you suggesting we revert to 144 or re-download and install 153 again? Sorry, just confused a bit.
I’m confused
-
As soon as we get it fixed, we are putting it back up. -
Inappropriate? For how long will we have to wait before the download will be available again
I’m Sad
-
Hopefully tomorrow (but no guarantees!). As some users (like adamsusong) found, the installer works fine for some users... but we want to try and avoid the issues & calls lots of users had.
The frustrating thing is that we still can't reliably reproduce the problem! -
Inappropriate?Just a note...I installed on Wednesday morning with no issues. I haven't recieved any of these errors. Seems to be running well.
I’m unconcerned
-
Inappropriate?I'm still on build 137. Should I be on build 144 before installing the new one when you get it working?
-
You can go right to 153. Pass up 144 all together. -
Inappropriate? If it matters, I had no problems upgrading my Windows 7 64-bit machines to build 153.
-
Inappropriate?I understand the error may be with the upgrades ability to install the updated nlssrv32.exe file into the /WINDOWS/System32 directory. I'm installing now on two machines. One running XP Pro and the other on a Mac running VMWare running XPPro.
We really need that script control working as well. I'll let you know how it goes.
I’m hopeful
-
Inappropriate?Success!
Here is what I did.
1. In WINDOWS/System32 I made a copy of the nlssrv32.exe file
2. I downloaded the new nlssrv32.exe file at:
https://mediacomplete.zendesk.com/att...
3. I copied the new nlssrv32.exe file to the WINDOWS/System32 directory
4. I restarted my system
5. I downloaded v153.2 at:
http://download.mediacomplete.com/V4/...
6. I installed it and everything works!
Hope this helps. Many thanks to Dave F.
I’m Happy
-
Inappropriate? If this is right, does that mean 64-bit machines are OK! Like John, I am on a Win7 64-bit and had no problems with the install.
-
Inappropriate?Hey Travis. Our presentation pc is an older Dell running XP 32bit. The graphics computer is an iMac with a 64 bit processor running XPPro in a VMWare environment. I dont believe it is XP Pro 64 though.
-
Inappropriate? When we spend this much money for a program it gets frustrating when it doesn't work correctly. And then when the fixes don't work, well enough said.
-
Inappropriate?Hello Troy. I understand your frustration. We've been on a number of platforms and MediaShout really is the best I've ever used. The CCLI changes had them in a bit of a "tizzy" for a while and they tried to address it the script controller went batty. This is the exception and not the rule. Hang in there a bit longer and give 'em a chance. You'll be glad you did.
-
Inappropriate?I have to agree with Joseph, been happy with Mediashout since version 1, 2, 2.5, they all have been good, and now 4 is good, a little different, but good. Recently I had to use something else because I was working with a different operating system for a big conference, and now in my mission organization, I'm a mediashout evangelist. It really makes a difference, especially for last minute stuff.
I’m Happy
-
Inappropriate?MS is an awesome product! I've reccommended it to others many times. I know that they are going to get the bugs worked out! So please nobody defect!
-
Inappropriate?I also had absolutely no problems installing it on a 64 bit Windows 7 machine. But on my 32 bit Vista - no go.
I’m thankful
-
Inappropriate?Vista is a virus. :) We skipped it, stayed on XP Pro then went to Win 7 on our personal systems. So far Win 7 has been a joy.
-
Inappropriate?Ok, someone has to respond to that last one. Vista is a little more of a hog yes, and so for the consumer it isn't always ideal, but for the true geeks among us, using something like vlite to strip out what you don't want isn't a problem, and lets face it, for most of us running mediashout (wouldn't want to vlite a presentation machine would we), we are (should?) be doing it on a machine that can handle anything that we throw at it, so resource allocation shouldn't be such a problem. I have been using Mediashout on Vista 32 and 64 since 3 became compatible without any problems. While vista over Win 7 (or XP) might indeed be a problem in this case, it isn't the rule, and maybe we need to review what a virus is? I only mention this because some Mediashout users are consumer level (as opposed to geek level), and I don't want them making decisions about how they spend their limited resources based on comments like this. Now, back on topic, I look forward to getting this update when all the bugs are fixed.
I’m looking forward to the update!
-
Inappropriate? We are MS newbies, coming from Sunday Plus, the machines are Win 7 Pro 64 bit and the home computer is Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Have not had any problems running it, but then it is an evaluation copy using the 153 build.
Both machines are AMD 4400 Dual Cores with NVIDIA 512 RAM video cards.
The transitions do seem a little slow, but otherwise, just going through the steep learning curve. -
Inappropriate?Success!
1. I downloaded v153.2 at:
http://download.mediacomplete.com/V4/...
2. I installed it and everything works!
I’m Satisfied
-
Inappropriate?Hi all - we're running MS4 b153 on an XP Pro 64 Dell Precision workstation with 4 GB Ram. We had been having a few minor bugs since 4 came out, but this thing with the Nalpeiron Licensing service really had me bugged. One of the techs spent 3 hours with me on the phone trying to resolve it without success. We had a workaround but that caused some different issues although we could get by with it temporarily. Anyway to cut to the chase, this is what we found: The Licens Manager, Error-108 is caused by the AST service not starting. The Nalpeiron Licensing service is caused by it not being set to run automatically and to run at the user level rather than at the local machine level. These are both networking issues, so the network admin needs to fix them, but when both have been properly set, the programs works just like you expect it to. It's too bad the installer doesn't set them up properly, but at least you know where to go to get them fixed. PS: If you don't run the projection machine with limited "rights" this isn't going to be an issue at all.

This sounds close to what we've found... but not quite: Please have your network guy give me a call when he can... I'd like to make sure I'm not overlooking something as we fix the issue! I'm at ext. 304 -
Inappropriate?Just curious, has anyone had problems with background videos playing very fast (2x or 3x faster) after reinstalling the build 153 to correct Error -63? It doesn't do this on all my songs, but has happened twice now, once each on two different songs. Removing the background and re-applying it seems to solve the issue, but I don't want to keep having to do this if I don't have to. Any thoughts?
-
Inappropriate?I'm still running 4.0.105. Reason being that the updates after this version we lost transparency between our foreground video layers and our background flash animation layers. Has this been fixed in the newest versions? I'd love to update to get the latest bug fixes and enhancements but can not afford to loose the ability to have a video on my foreground layer and a flash animation for my background.
-
No. I don't know that we knew of this bug: did you call us and let us know? (If so, I'm sorry; if not, it's flagged now!)
I'll double-check w/ the QA team and confirm we didn't know about this one... -
I posted a thread here a long time ago about it but not sure if it ever got addressed. So is it still not possible to have a foreground video layer and a background flash animation layer? -

Not yet. It should be, though. -
Inappropriate? You mean total uninstall and start back with the original disks that we received when we upgraded
Frank Sanctuary Church -
NO not at all. Just simply uninstall shout from add remove programs and reinstall using the update. The updates are actually stripped down full versions so you will not loose any databases. It will act just like rolling back a build like in V3. The whole process will take maybe ten minutes. -
Inappropriate?Worked great, thank you
Frank -
Inappropriate?Everyone,
Please download the new build here
(http://download.mediacomplete.com/V4/...) and comment back. Please let us know if this build installs without problems.
We finally were able to isolate the problem: users who had 4.0 through 4.2 builds as their first install were experiencing problems, but users who were upgrading from 4.3 and later weren't. Since then, I think we've fixed it. Now, the new build is ready for public testing!
If we start hearing good news, I think this one's going out as the b153 release.
I’m excited
-
Nate, just performed the download. I can now open MediaShout. I haven;'t had a chance to look at the differences, but you seem to have fixed the problem of not being able to access the program.
Frank -
Definately seems to have fixed this issue, thanks a bunch! Glad I can get this update now. -
Inappropriate?I've wasted too much time with this and all the problems I've had since I've had MS 4. Let me know when you're sure you've got everything "fixed." I'm part of so many feeds, I've lost track - transition dissolves, first-page templates (which your suggested creation of a first page template DOES NOT solve the problem,) stanzas swapping and on and on. I used to recommend MS, but no more.
-
Leslie, I apologize for the way you are feeling. Your frustration is understandable, but you shouldn't be having so many problems. Please give us a call, we would love to help you out. 866.857.1292 Mon-Fri, 8am - 5:30pm Central -

Inappropriate?I'm using a trial of version 4. (the second 45 days, actually.) If i uninstall MS 4 and then reinstall via the update, will this cancel my 45 day trial period? Will I have to call for a new access key?
-
Ed, Using the version posted by Nathan just a few posts up does not require uninstalling first. -
Inappropriate?I have precicely the same problem as Pastor Drew. I don't have an installer file as I chose 'run' rather than save..
I’m annoyed
-
Inappropriate?I'm having some problems with ms4 crashing while my teams are cueing some very different cues in sucession. For instance, our Youth Pastor had multiple crashes Sunday night and I think it's because ms4 had a headache when he tried to cue a website, song, slide, and then a dvd clip all in succession. I'm not that PC savy, so I was hoping there might be an update out there that could address some of these issues. I just upgraded the ram on my comp and did everything that I needed to do to make this machine compatible (two weeks ago on another thread), but I'm a little nervous to update, so I guess I'm just keeping my fingers crossed for when you do open up another update, I don't really want to go down the road of installing an update only to be given a lot of errors, that freaks me out.
I’m nervous, but hopeful
