This is the recipe.
1. Uninstall Quicktime(If it is installed) as well as any Alt version
2. Install the klite codec pack (Full or Mega) http://www.free-codecs.com/
3. install QTAlt ver. 1.81 http://www.filehippo.com/
4. Reinstall Quicktime (If you want to or if you paid for QT Pro)

Inappropriate?Another option in v3 (unknown about v4 yet) is that we convert all of our mov's and mp4's to avi's using winff.exe converter. It is free and works great for reducing the file size while keeping the quality. It also has an option for choosing 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio.

Inappropriate?Do you HAVE to use QTAlt ver. 1.81? only asking why the specific version is listed. They are up to version 3

Inappropriate?Yes. Version 1.81 seems to be the only version that works with the latest version of Klite. If you want to test other versions to see if they work and post back your findings that would be great. When I found the first version that worked and is still working(1.81) over a year ago, I stopped testing.
