v4 crashes when playing DVD video cue
I am having problems with DVD cues using v4 build 107.3. The cue sets up ok, but when I attempt to play the cue the error message "MediaShout has encountered an error and needs to close". This is on a Windows XP installation. Same installation on a Vista installation has no problems. I have installed the latest codecs. HELP!

Inappropriate?Jeff,
Double check that DVDs are playing correctly outside of MediaShout to make sure there isn't a problem with the DVD player itself. If it works fine there, install K-Lite Mega Codecs. Here is the link for our instructions on installing K-lite... http://download.mediacomplete.com/Doc... -
Inappropriate?DVDs play fine both in PowerDVD and in MediaShout v3.5. I have downloaded and installed the latest codecs (v. 482) as well as Mediashout v4.1 (build 112). Nothing improved. As soon as I try to play the DVD cue the program crashes!

Inappropriate? There were some issues with XP SP3. If you have SP3 installed try uninstalling it.

Inappropriate?HI,I'm getting a similar error. Was this solved?
When I attempt to set up a dvd cue, I receive an error "Wrong paramenters" and then on closing the popup window as it doesn't let me go further Media shout collaspes. Teh movie plays outside of MEdia Shout and I have the K-lite Mega codec also installed.

Inappropriate? My issue was similar, up unitl the error. I could set up the cue and all was well but when I fired it, I got a "could not load" error. After several attemots MS would crash. After about 6 hours of testing, it ended up being a codec issue.
This is what worked for me:
Uninstall klite codec pack (Or any codec pack you have if any)
Clean the registry(I use Ccleaner, its Free)
Reinstall the latest klite mega pack
During the install, make these changes
When you get to the set up screen where you can "Select Components", choose the profile that says "Lots of Stuff". Also if you scroll down the window you will see the codec options for MPEG2. The one that worked best for me was Cinepak. I tried the method as discribed here but the cinepak worked best for me. http://download.mediacomplete.com/Doc...
If you use Cinepak you do not need to open the ffdshow configuration utiliyt as discribed in screen shots 2 and 3 in the above link.
Hope this helps. -
The option is Cyberlink not Cinepak. -
Inappropriate?Did the clean install/uninstall of the Codecs fix the issue for you?

Except for a white flash (that may be a 64 bit issue) at the begining, it seems to have fixed 95% of the issue. The only difference betweem my install and the one discribed in the link is that I chose Cyberlink as the mpeg2(DVD) codec. You will still have the option to use the klite defaults after you install but you will not be able to choose Cyberlink. -
Inappropriate?I don' know if I would call it solved. I am not the original poster of this issue. You should wait to see if what fixed my issue fixes his.

Inappropriate?I am having this issue in MediaShout 3.5...however, I have noticed that the only time I don't get the "MediaShout has encountered an error and needs to close" message is when I'm playing the dvd first thing in a brand new script, so I think everything is fine. Then in the middle of a service, after timed cues run, I'll fire the video dvd cue and get the error message. Once MS shuts down, I can reopen it, open the script and fire the dvd and it works fine. However, the congregation is waiting during this "blackout" time.
I’m frustrated

Beth what build are you on in 3.5. There was a beta build 735 which resolved some DVD crash problems. It can be downloaded here
