Text Dissolve Over Motion Background Controls Error
I know these controls used to be under "style" in 3.5, but I can't seem to find the controls for enabling/disabling text fade over video background and controlling the speed of said fade.

Inappropriate? The control for fade speed is in the "In" properties of the foreground. Make sure you're looking at the advanced view.
I've found it doesn't really matter, though.. It seems very slow.
[EDIT]
Ahh.. I see what the issue was. I tried to set the "transition speed" in the "In" properties when I've selected the "Cue" in the left-hand tree view. I set it to 10 (fast), but everything still seemed slow. When I selected an individual page in the tree view, and navigated to the same property, it was still set to 0 (slow). Maybe this is a bug? I assume that if you set a property at the "Cue" level, it should propagate to all pages in the cue?
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?I had actually seen those and assumed it was something other than what I was looking for since adjusting the speed had no obvious effect on what I was hoping to accomplish - guess that's what I get for assuming :)
My biggest complaint, besides the lack of control over fade speed, is that any changes made there seem to not propagate across all stanzas - for instance I have a song where the BG starts on [Blank] 1, and the cuts as it's supposed to to the first stanza (I changed from fade to cut since the fade is so painfully slow). However, all stanzas after that continue to be faded to, and there's no 'In' option on any stanza besides where the BG starts ([Blank] 1 in my example) to change the transition.
[EDIT]
The 'In' property is disabled on all pages except for my [Blank] 1. This also includes the 'Cue' item. Either I'm doing something wrong, or there's definitely a bug here.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate? Thanks guys. I'm changing the status of this functionality to a Problem and we'll investigate.

Inappropriate? Here is a break down of how each transition settings affects things. The tab I'm talking about is in bold.
Cue
Transition settings from this tab apply to how the background is handled. For motion backgrounds you can select Cut or Dissolve. For graphic backgrounds you can select a wide variety of options. This setting is tied in to the background transition type.
If you have a motion background, changing between cut and dissolve affects how videos will transition into each other between songs. You can change your FG transition separately when using a motion background. If you have a graphic background, it changes how the FG/BG transitions. You won't see a change on the background, but you will with the FG because that layer is changing each time.
Speed can be set for anything other than Cut.
Foreground
When you have a motion background assigned to the song, you can select Cut or Dissolve over Motion background from Advanced>Format>In as well as the speed.
Changing things from the Cue level (not the Cue tab) are global settings. In this case, the Transition Type that is set at the Cue level affects the entire song (this is currently a bug). You will also be able to adjust this setting at the object (verse/chorus/etc) level. This would be in the case where you want stanzas to dissolve into each other, but want them to cut inside of themselves. For instance, V1 dissolve to V2a; 2a cut to 2b; 2b dissolve to Chorus.
Background
Select the Cue level (not the Cue tab). You can set transitions for graphics or videos here. Again, this is tied into the transition setting from the Cue tab. You can select how you want multiple backgrounds to transition into each other from here.
Hopefully this clears everything up, if not, just say so and let me know where you need more clarification and I'll see what I can do.
I’m hoping this helps

Inappropriate? We have been having a problem with lyric transitions set to dissolve over motion background since we upgraded from v. 3 to 3.5. We followed along with another series of posts (transitions move at turtleneck speed) and nothing worked. help!
Is there an advance menu for lyric cues? how do we fix this? we would rather the transitions just cut, but everything we try is overridden. -
Inappropriate?Cindy,
I'm guessing someone clicked "Yes, change all my songs and templates to dissolve text over motion background" when they first opened v3.5.
Unfortunately, this is a one-way change. To change BACK, you need to manually change your songs (and templates) back to the "cut" transition method.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Thank you, Thank you, Thank you Nathaniel! It works great now!

Inappropriate? One thing I found I had to do was make sure that MSv4 knows what the background is, which is done when it is selected. I could not get the motion videos to dissolve in transition until I specifically called them a "video". Not a graphic. Not an animation. This had been incredibly frustrating because in the previous version it simply worked. The songs imported from the previous version did not carry over the settings.

Inappropriate? We loaded b114 hoping it would resolve this problem. It didn't.
If anything it seems worse.
With a motion background we get large delays (3 sec or so) after we press the space bar until the next verse appears. Tried setting everything (listed above) to a cut and we still get a slow dissolve. I was careful to select the Cue level.
