Why won't mp3 files work?
In MediaShout 3.5 I suddenly can't play MP3 files. WMA works just fine, but any song with mp3 just won't play. Any ideas?

Inappropriate?Has there been any changes via installs, updates or setting adjustments?
-
Only thing was that I had to redo video codecs recently. -
Inappropriate? You could try enabling K-Lite's FFDSHOW audio library for MP3's. Start>Programs>K Lite Codec Pack>Configuration>FFDSHOW Audio Decoder
Click "Codec" tab at top left.
Find MP3 listed (first one in mine).
Use drop down menue under "decoder" to select something other than "disabled."
Mediashout should natively support MP3's cause Windows does....but sometimes bad things happen that can't be explained. This could possibly get you back in business. -
Thanks for the idea. I tried all the options in the drop down menu, but none of them worked. -
Inappropriate? Is your MP3 problem only when playing WITHIN Mediashout? Will MP3s play OUTSIDE of Mediashout in, say, Windows Media Player?
If they play OUTSIDE of Mediashout, i'd say reinstall Mediashout, or, at least reinstall one of the big rebuild (such as update 3.5 b697...that was a big one that rebuild alot of core stuff). -
Yes, the MP3 files work in other applications, just not in MediaShout. I was thinking that I might need to reinstall. Thanks for your help. -
Inappropriate? When you re-install codecs, you also have to change a few settings.
if you go to support.mediashout.com and go to downloads, click on the install codecs link. double check the changes in the pdf that pulled up and make sure those were completed or held.
