Don't get a Grid Account
MT Grid accounts sounded too good to be true when Tech Crunch covered it. It was cheap, high performance, redundant hosting.
Unfortunately, when something sounds too good to be true it typically is. MT Grid accounts aren't worth the money unless you're looking for an easy painless way of getting your Rails web app up and running fast (for a demo). MT's Grid hosting's performance really sucks (even if you max the specs) and it's just not reliable (Grid went down when I was supposed to demo my web app...)
MT's 24/7 phone support (that was quick and useful) and a really awesome admin ui that doesn't exist anywhere else - kind of justifies the $20 hosting plan. I don't recommend upgrading it though. Either go to a different host or use MT's different plans (DV or DVP).

The best point from the company

While I cannot deny that we have had our share of woes and troubles with our (gs) Grid Service product over the past few months, I am happy to report that we have made numerous bug fixes as well as upgrades that have drastically improved the stability and performance of this product. I urge anyone and everyone to check out this product again and see the changes for yourself.

Inappropriate?I can vouch for the increased reliability of the Gridserver platform in recent months. Personally, I've been using the service for just over 18 months now and I can say that it has lived up to my expectations, and even surpassed them in some areas. I will be renewing my account when it comes due for yearly renewal in October.
..looking forward to MySQL5 being supported on the GS though... and more news about a CS beta!
Keep up the good work MediaTemple.
I’m a happy MediaTemple customer

Inappropriate?I too have a few GS accounts - I love it and the Customer Service is the best in any industry, hands down. I would reccommend MT to anyone that is serious about their projects and needs a partner that supports them 100%.
You go MT!!!
I’m happy

Inappropriate?I also have a (mt) (gs) account and even though they had a rough patch for a couple of months, they're back to normal - which is excellent.
Keep up the great work (mt).
I’m yet another happy (mt) customer.

Inappropriate?I've become quite frustrated with MediaTemple in the past year, but I'm staying because I have seen some improvements recently.
But I am also the type of person that finds any downtime to be unacceptable.
