Hey great question! Sorry you're frustrated and thanks for your patience. I'm not gonna give you a quick little response, you deserve to know what changes have taken place so hopefully this letter will clear things up for you. As for that stingy password blocking your access to OneRiot, it should be removed in a matter of minutes. (You just found our new site before we took off the private blocker!) ;)
Last July, Me.dium launched Social Search Alpha, a search engine that allowed our users to find the most popular content on the web. You loved it, and you weren’t the only ones—everyone from The New York Times to Business Week thought we were up to something pretty awesome.
As a small company, Me.dium’s number one focus is to create an exceptional product for our users. Two years, two million downloads, and countless messages of your support later, we now know that product is Social Search. So, in effort to make our Social Search the best on the planet, we’ve decided to shift all of our focus towards making this product 100% amazing.
Here’s what that means for you:
+ As of today, Me.dium will become OneRiot. OneRiot will function as a search engine, but will be different than other search engines for one big reason: Our search results will be ranked based on their current popularity within our community. So, when you use OneRiot, you won’t just be finding information, you’ll be finding the pulse of the web.
+ The Me.dium Social Search Sidebar, as you know it, will cease to exist. Yes, this is a little sad, but as we’ve watched you, our most avid users, loving Social Search alpha more and more everyday, we know that this is what you find most valuable. The sidebar will now offer a list of current hot topics, pointing you to the most popular news, videos and products on the web.
+ The Me.dium add-on for IE8 and Firefox will become the Pulsechecker, a way to immediately access the hottest content on the web, and will be joined by some great toolbars for college students and Myspacers (and soon, facebookers!).
These are big changes, and we’re really excited about them—but we’re even more excited to hear what you think. We adore and depend on your support, and we’re depending on it now more than ever – so give OneRiot a test, then let us know what you think. We’ve definitely got a lot of work to do, and your input will help us make OneRiot the best social search engine around.
Thanks for everything—now go Search for the Pulse!
I’m excited

Inappropriate?Wow, I saw the launch of OneRiot today and thought it was cool but I didn't know it meant the end of me.dium. :( Did you send out an email to me.dium users letting them know? I use (used) me.dium but I can't recall if I was was subscribed to email announcements or not. Bummer about the sidebar but good luck with the new setup.

Inappropriate? Thanks for the well wishes, ya it's a little sad that our sidebar is gone, but we wouldn't have made a move like that unless we really believed OneRiot was going to be something big and exciting!
The response that I put on GetSatisfaction was actually the email that went out. If I had your email, I should have sent you a copy. However, yesterday was our launch....so if you read it here, you haven't been out of the loop for long. :)
We are really interested in any feedback you may have for us. Thanks for your thoughts, and if you ever have any questions, please email me at jhodges@oneriot.com
