Not so nice new Firefox Extension (and bookmarklet)
It's not working as well as before for me.
I have to login everytime I use the plug-in or the bookmarklet.
I can't have a default "send to friend" state open ( i always have to click there)
I don't have predictive text input for the addresses I send (neither my mento friends nor an e-mail that I typed before)
All of these I used to have with the "old" bookmarklet.
Am I doing something wrong?

Inappropriate?I also use the extension and the bookmarklet. I don't have any of your problems. Doesn't have to login for every time I'm using it.
I’m confident
-
Inappropriate?Thanks DASKAjA for chiming in!
Sometimes, the login problem is related to using a proxy or firewall server? Are you behind a firewall by chance? Other users reported that a custom password manager that they were using caused unexpected problems.
If you don't get an "auto-complete" list for your contacts, try moving your blinking text cursor to the big text field and then switching it back into the small text field. When your contact list hasn't fully been loaded by the time you start typing, the list isn't displayed sometimes -- that's a bug we're working on fixing.
Thanks for your patience!

Inappropriate? Thanks for the timely response, Grex.
So. I'm not behind any firewall or proxy. I use the default password manager in firefox.
Also, the autocomplete still doesn't work (even if I change the text field).
Just for the record, I'm on a Macbook Pro, with Mac OS 10.5.4 and Firefox 3.0.1 and Mento extension 1.2.0
Thanks
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Hm- that's bizarre and frustrating indeed. Let me ask you some more basic questions, just to get one step closer to understanding the problem:
You say that you have to login every time. Does it ask you to login even if you bookmark a second page right after saving the first? And what happens when you log in on the Mento site, surf the web and use the bookmarklet/extension then? (I assume that you are using the "remember my login" option)
The autocomplete problem is probably caused by the same underlying problem-- we'll figure this out! Meanwhile, I'm very thankful for your patience!
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Ah. The plot thickens. I have to admit that since I upgraded the plug-in (and had these issues) I ended up saving my links through the web site (I get the same results with the bookmarklet).
Mainly because I use Mento mostly to send links to friends.
Anyway. Now that you asked me about the second page, I actually did what you asked, and bookmarked both. I still need to relogin on the second bookmark, but the weird thing is that none of them actually go to my links list on mento. It's as if it's not working at all.
I made a screen capture. Because a movie speaks more than words ;)

Help?
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate?Indeed, the movie says more than a thousand words. I definitely know what to look for now -- I'll ping you once I know more!
One more question: does the box pop up when you go to www.mento.info/login (in a separate tab/window) and login there?
I’m puzzled
-
Inappropriate?Great. Just one more question: when you go to www.mento.info/login (in a separate tab/window) and login there, does Mento still bother you to log in afterward when you want to post a link?
-
Inappropriate?Yup. Just tryed it. Same problem.
Actually, on the video I sent, I had mento logged on another tab (that you can see me reloading in the end). -
Inappropriate?Hello grex,
I have the same problem like Fábio with the Mento 1.2-Plugin for Firefox.
I use Firefox 3.0.1 on Mac OS X 10.5.4. I have disabled all other Firefox-Plugins (NoScript, Webdevelopertools, Operator, AdBlock Plus and so on), but nothing happend.
When I am on mento.info I can click on the Mento-Icon and must not login, but on all other sites the plugin do not remember my user credentials. Also after the login, links will not go into my Mento-Account.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Hm- this is beginning to look like a trend, an unpleasant one.
I still suspect that it's some sort of cookie problem. When you go into Tools > Options... > switch to the "Privacy" tab: Are the checkboxes for cookie settings are selected? (namely: accept third party cookies?) Try clicking on "Exceptions" and add www.mento.info to the list of allowed sites.
And when you're there, could you also click on "Show Cookies" and search for "mento.info". Do you see a cookie named "mxtu"? When does it expire?
Thanks so much for your patience! It's a very bizarre problem -- and I'm puzzled because we've been unable to reproduce it anywhere.
I’m really thankful
-
Inappropriate?Ah. That solved it.
I enabled "third party cookies" and added to the exception list ;)
Thanks!
I’m thankful
-
Inappropriate?Thank you very much, grex. The problem is also solved by me.
I have only add www.mento.info to the exception list. The Accept third party cookies checkbox must not selected, only the checkbox Accept cookies.
The mxtu-Cookie expires on 30 August.
I’m happy
