Smartydish leaves residue on my glasses and plastics.
Smartydish leaves residue on my glasses and plastics. I never had this problem using Cascade. The residue on the plastics is viscous: You can smear it with your fingers. The residue on the glasses is a white crust/film. Is this the result of not using phosphate detergent? I added 1/4 cup of vinegar to the wash prior to a normal wash, and it seems to have helped a little.

Inappropriate?Hey there, sarah from method here,
Smarty Dish is designed to handle over 95% of the hard water conditions in the United States. If you get water from mineralized aquifer, that is either over 600 ppm hardness or smells strongly of sulfur, almost all your cleaning applications will suffer unless you use more product or adopt a water treatment system.
For areas that do not have excessively mineralized water, follow these troubleshooting tips:
1) Check for overloading: Sometimes oversized or dangling dishes keep the spray arms from turning. No spray, no clean.
2) Make sure top rack spray arm supply is engaged: There is a water path from the back of the machine to the spray arm that can sometimes get knocked off the hanger. If it does not engage, then there is no water to the top rack and very little pressure on the bottom rack either.
3) Dispenser pocket not open: If the dispenser got jammed shut or somehow the tablet did not escape, then your cleaner either arrived too late on the scene or not at all.
4) Insufficient water temperature: Automatic dishwashers are designed to use hot water in at least one part of the cycle. Be sure the hot water supply or machine heater elements are working well. Hot water should be a minimum of 130 °F (40°C) in a US household.
If you try this tips and your dishes are still coming out hazy, will you do me a favor and send me the lot number printed on the back or underside of the Smarty Dish container itself along with the fragrance and place of purchase? This way I can file a formal complaint with our QA Team and have them look into the issue more thoroughly. Please just email me this information at info@methodhome.com -
Inappropriate?"I added 1/4 cup of vinegar to the wash prior to a normal wash......"
Vinegar is in the rinse cup, right? Makes a dandy rinse!
If in the main wash or even prewash, without a rinse, the acid in the vinegar would just go to neutralize the product - can't imagine it could work right, that way
