I've written this handy script (for myself, at the moment) that works of a single file. I want to call it from the windows context menu by right clicking the file I want it to process.

Now, i've added a new key under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\Shell (because I want it to work on *any* file) and have added the following sub-key

(Default) = "%windir%\system32\wscript.exe" "D:\myscripts\myscript.vbs" "%1"

I can now see my new menu item whenever i right-click any file (yay!) but when I click it, I get an error message "Access is denied." - what am i doing wrong or missing?

In Windows Vista Internet Time Synchronization I keep getting the error:

"An error occurred while Windows was synchronizing with time.windows.com."

This occurs with any of the choices for server.
How do I fix this?

When ether I or my computer's security runs a disk defragment, and after its done all the programs on my computer randomly quits responding. like if i'm on the internet both Firefox or IE will stop responding. I then will have to open the task manager to close whatever program stopped responding. then reopen it. I even had the task manager stop responding a few times.
This not responding will get so bad I will have to run a destructive recovery, then everything will be fine The security I'm using is Windows Live One Care and it runs whats called a tune up every 2 weeks and it runs Disk defregment during this tuneup and it can't be stopped I can only change how often it runs it. but after a while If I don't run a disk defragment my computer gets really slow.

When i called HP Tech support they keep telling me to run a destructive recovery. that's the only thing can tell me to do, now since my extended warranty ran out they won't help me with out charging me $49.00 to my phone bill. I went ahead and did that one time and they told me to run a destructive recovery, wasted $49.00

There has to be a different way to handle this beside running a destructive recovery every other month.

I don't know what else to do I just about gave up and went out and bought a new computer. this computer is only a year and one and a half months old. then i was watching some tech show on Fox news when they mentioned this site as being as good place to get real help fast. so I'm here can anybody help me with this?

A user is claiming there is an application called System Memory scan under System Tools under Accessories in Windows XP SP2 (they can't upgrade to SP3 for other reasons)

It (not he nor she) states this is the method to access it:

(1) Click Start
(2) Hover Over All Programs.
(3) Hover Over Accessories.
(4) Hover Over System Tools.
(5) Click On System Memory Scan.
Its right under Disk Defragmenter.
It has a short memory test and a full system memory test.
and you can schedule it when you want it to run the next scan.

Normally I'd assume this was added on by a system builder (like Dell or HP), but it also claims the application is from Microsoft. I don't use Windows XP, so I don't know and was just curious as to when this was added.

Also, it claims it cannot use Service Pack 3 due to a driver conflict with an Intel driver, you might want to look into that.

I'm getting a 80080005 error with windows update in Vista32. There is no documentation about this wrror anywhere in microsoft. argggg

Fine, I give up. Just installed Microsoft's WGA Validation Tool on my laptop. Crossing my fingers against it being another false positive.

how do i find out what process uses my harddrive

If I encrypted files on XP SP2, transferred them to an external drive, and am trying to get them on a new drive am I out of luck?

My old drive is toast and I didn't think to unencrypt the files before backing them up :(((
