Calendar sync wipes out my calendar!
Periodically, like couple of weeks or so, I lose all my calendar data. I use Entourage with Exchange on a Mac. I use an iPhone.
What I want/need is calendar/contact syncing to my iPhone. I feel like there is conflict happening between iCal/Entourage syncing. I would gladly simplify this process if there is a way to do so.

Inappropriate?Which version of Entourage are you using? Which version of Exchange are you using? Are you syncing your iPhone directly to Exchange, or are you syncing it with Entourage?
-
I'm using Entourage 2008, 12.1.5. Exchange 2007. I do not plug my iPhone in. It syncs via Exchange. -
When you say that you lose all of your calendar data, where is this happening? Is it that you can't see it in Entourage, or on your iPhone, or when viewing your Exchange account another way (say, via Outlook Web Access)? -
I lose it in every application (Entourage, iCal) and on Exchange (though I don't use OWA) and on the iPhone. -
I lose it in every application (Entourage, iCal) and on Exchange (though I don't use OWA) and on the iPhone. It's gone from everything. It's like sync hits a glitch/conflict and just resets all data. I think restore manually by taking the iCal invite files from a back up and drag and drop into iCal.
I have now eliminated iCal the scenario and do not let Entourage/Exchange sync with other applications. No sync issues, but also not able to use other apps. Not really a fix, just an avoidance of the issue. -
It sounds like you need to reset Sync Services. You said that you've already turned off Entourage's syncing with iCal. Make sure that it's definitely off. Then follow the directions here to reset your Sync Services folder:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627
Next, in iCal, delete the "Entourage" calendar. (If Sync Services has gotten really confused, you might find that you have multiple Entourage calendars in iCal. Delete all of them.) Finally, you can re-enable syncing in Entourage.
If you continue to have problems, you should contact your IT people. Since you're using Exchange, your IT people should be able to contact Microsoft tech support to try to take care of this problem. They will be able to do things like get logs of what's happening (both in Entourage and Exchange). It's possible that there's some other kind of interaction going on that can only be diagnosed through those log files.
Also, this is somewhat unrelated to your question, but there is a new beta of Entourage available. It's called Entourage for Exchange Web Services, and is for use with Exchange 2007 servers. You should check with your IT people to see if you can use it (since it requires that your Exchange server is using a specific service pack). If your Exchange server is ready for it, and if you're comfortable using beta software, you can give it a go. It gives you faster syncing with your Exchange account, and also syncs additional data to Exchange (such as tasks, notes, and categories). You can read more about it here:

Inappropriate?I spent a few hours on the weekend, had two macs and an iphone syncing over MobileMe. Mobile works perfectly with contacts, calendar and email...however...Entourage has known bug (according to MS) where by it randomly was deleting events. I saw this twice during some random tests. Events would just dissappear out of Entourage. They would still be in iCal and then iCal and Entourage would not be in sync anymore. I confirmed that MobileMe with iCal and iPhone work perfectly with testing various scenarios. Problem lies in Entourage syncing with iCal is hit and miss. Works about 90% of the time, which isnt good enough for a business.
Major hassles. So iCal mobileMe and iphone work perfectly. Entourage is buggy even with latest update.
You can also check out google sync, works pretty well...

Inappropriate?I thought I would step through a process where I had problems. I created two calendar events on two different macs both with latest Entourage update. I also created two events on an iphone. All systems sync'd fine. Events were in iCal and Entourage on both machines.
I deleted an event from one Mac, and randomly two events were deleted from the second Mac within Entourage. The event was still in iCal on the second Mac however iCal did not reSync the event to Entourage. I could add additional events etc, and iCal and Entourage picked them up ok, however the deleted event remained in iCal and not in Entourage. Adding events seems to work ok, deleting events is a bit buggy
