Inappropriate?Hi Alex,
Windows Vista does receive updates through Windows Update and is not update-free. What updates does Windows tell you it needs to install? If you choose not to install them then Windows will continue to remind you to do so each time you log on.
If you go to the Control Panel and open Windows Update, there is a "Updates: frequently asked questions" link on the left which should lead you to any answers you need about Windows Update questions.

Inappropriate?Hi Alex,
Microsoft releases security updates on the second Tuesday of the month so that people can plan ahead.
There are also occasionally "out of band" releases on other days when a security update is regarded as critical enough to skip the monthly cycle.
If you are seeing an update every day then it is highly likely that you are seeing the same update failing to update and trying again. If you go to the Control Panel and open Windows Update, there is a "View update history" link on the left which shows you which update may be failing.

Inappropriate?its a security update its failed 73 times, what should i do?

Inappropriate? If you choose the "Updates: frequently asked questions" link in Windows Update, you can navigate to "Troubleshoot problems with installing updates " (bottom of the list under "See Also").
The most relevant suggestion is probably to see if an error has occurred and use the error code to search online for help.
