How do I free my GFWL Gamertag up? (Closing old Live ID)
Hi!
I've recently changed email address from my old Hotmail account to a new one that's registered with Passport.
My Gamertag is linked to my Hotmail address but I want to use that Gamertag with my new one. I don't have an Xbox 360 and am trying to do this on Games for Windows Live. I've read that I can purchase the ability to rename my Gamertag and I was hoping that I could use that to rename my Hotmail-linked tag to something else and then use my tag with my new email account, but I can't find any way of doing this online.
I'm also a bit telephobic and hence I don't like phoning people up, and I'm also a UK resident. If the above method is impossible in my position, would cancelling the whole Live ID account (the Hotmail address) in turn cancel my Gamertag, too?

Inappropriate?I'm told this is called a "Windows Live ID Swap", and can only be done from the Xbox 360 console.

I'll have to see if I can find a friend who has an Xbox 360, I guess, hehe!
All I want from the old Hotmail account is my Gamertag (and any licences, I guess, if they are bound to my old address) so is the best way to get this ported to my new account to use the Windows Live ID Swap that you mentioned (I won't get any of my MSN contacts ported over, will I?) or change my Gamertag with MS Points and then use that Gamertag with my new account? I hope I'm correct that it will let me use my old Gamertag once it's been changed should I follow that option, yes?
