I still cannot install the Zune software after multiple attempts with Microsoft technical support.
I have MS XP Home with all the latest windows updates and I still get an error message installing the Zune software, without which I cannot use the Zune 4GB digital media player that I had bought.
This is the error that technical support didn't care for me to give:
Installation Failed
Setup must stop because the required package 'Zune' failed to install.
Custom Action 21:15:04.250: Operation 'InstallDriver' has finished with result 0x80070643.
Custom Action 21:15:04.562: Operation 'RemoveDriver' has finished with result 0x8004005.
DIFXAPP: Rollback failed with error 0x2
Error code: 0x80070643

Going to the above link and following the steps doesn't fix the problem.

Inappropriate?This worked for me! I found it on another Zune help site.
SOLUTION : Go to C:Windows\System32\Drivers and look for a file called : wdf01000.sys !!! Rename or Delete this file.
