Scroll wheel hangs up
Sometimes the scroll wheel on my Microsoft mouse fails to operate. All other functions are normal. The fault only lasts for a few seconds then returns to normal. It's as if the computer is busy and won't accept the scroll wheel commands but the computer is not busy. This is a very disturbing problem.

Inappropriate? If this happens with all applications, it could be that the sensor reading the movement of the mechanical wheel is malfunctioning. I had something similar occur with my old (and favourite) MS Mouse, and found that cleaning the mechanism with a few blasts of compressed air helped solve the problem. Depending on the age and use, it may be time for a new mouse.
Of interest, see this link from Microsoft.com on Cleaning your computer: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/mored...

Sorry, that's not it. I also have a Logitech keyboard on this computer with built in scroll wheel. It has the same problem -
Inappropriate?ok, have you seen the guidance at windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/efd700f8-bbc0-4f04-9f78-3bdb4bbf47011033.mspx? it may be that you need to select and reset the settings for the scroll wheel in the control panel.

Inappropriate? No sorry, thanks for the help. I've installed a new wireless laser mouse and it works fine. The keyboard scroll wheel is still faulty but it's an old keyboard so I just won't use that wheel anymore.
