Account balances change after reopening.
After upgrading to the new "fix", my account balances change after closing and reopening. the program. Since all of my categories are now gone since updating, I'm not going to do much work since I may have to revert to a backup. But this update is FULL of bugs. Will the next update have fixes, or should I expect that it will take time to get a working version?

Inappropriate? The update should not be full of bugs. Your account balances shouldn't be changing that is for sure. Can you double check your accounts to make sure each account has what you expect for the "initial balance" amount in the account edit window?
-
Inappropriate? As far as I've seen, the problem is that Cha-Ching doesn't refresh your saving instantanely.
Only the "Available Balance" under a certain account refreshes. To refresh the "Reconciled Balance" you have to go back to 'All Acounts' tab and enter the account.
Also, the "All Acounts" tab doesn't refresh automatly, I have to go to "Flagged" tab and then back to "All Account" to see the balances updated.

Inappropriate?Full of bugs may be an overstatement, but three bugs and a broken feature are way too many:
1. When creating a transfer Cha-Ching does not create a new transaction. It reverts and changed the previously entered transaction.
2. After spending an hour entering transactions last night, I verified that the balance was correct and quit the program. When I reopened the program the balance had more than doubled. I would work on finding out which transaction had gone missing, but why waste the time when:
3. Al of the previous categories have been changed to "uncategorized." And since I am going to have to revert to a backup when the app gets fixed, why waste the time? I'm going to have to redo all of the work I did last night anyway.
4. The program no longer syncs with the iPhone.
Perhaps full of bugs was not an overstatement after all.
This app is not a calendar, or a word processor. It handles MY MONEY! This is unacceptable.

Inappropriate?Kevin the application is a beta. If you don't want to deal with an application that has bugs than at this point cha-ching probably isn't for you.
Being that it is a beta there are going to be bugs until cha-ching 2.0 is released and available for sale.
I am sorry that you are having difficulty but please keep in mind that this is not a shipping product.
The reason you can't sync with the iPhone is because Apple has taken 40 days to approve cha-ching touch 1.6 which is required for syncing to function properly in this release.
Please stop being so angry and either continue to post bugs so that we can fix them or take your finances out of cha-ching and choose a different application.
Sorry if I sound rude but you aren't being helpful at all by constantly informing everyone how angry you are. -
I agree you Juan.

Inappropriate?Juan Alvarez: "The reason you can't sync with the iPhone is because Apple has taken 40 days to approve cha-ching touch 1.6 which is required for syncing to function properly in this release."
Incorrect. The reason we can't sync, is not the fault of Apple, is the fault of developers. We know that you lost the version that synced because of not having a secure backup or an offsite versioning system.
Yes the application is a beta, but still, I think that it's not a very well conducted beta process. I'm following it since 2008 and the more the time passes, the more I think that you didn't have a clear roadmap of the process.
I take Devontechnologies as an exemple: they also have a long standing beta version of their flagship product DEVONthink Pro. Most should say that their development is slow (I think so). But, at least, it is secure. You can work with their betas without fear of losing data. Maybe you can encounter a glitch or a bug, but your data is always there. And they have stopped all iPhone possible developments, just until the desktop version is launched. Then, they will begin to develop their iPhone app. -
Inappropriate?Juan,
My anger came only from you downplaying the serious problems with the latest release.
I have been using Cha-Ching for 8 months. I bought the app, as well as two copies of the iPhone app - one for me, one for my wife. I have spent dozens of hours entering transactions into Cha-Ching. So I have a lot of time and a small amount of money invested in the program. Cha-Ching has worked fine for me over these past eight months. I've never had any serious problems.
When all of the problems with the new release of the software became evident, and you took no responsibility for it, I decided to look into another solution. But I was amazed to find out I could only export a minimal amount of information from Cha-Ching: the date, payee and amount. So all of my categories, notes and tags would be gone.
I have never heard of a developer who told a customer if you don't like the bugs in the latest release take your business elsewhere. You should be willing to take constructive criticism and try to fix the problems, instead of telling your customers to go away.

The issue you and others can't seem to get past is that this is not the latest release, it's the latest beta. If you'd like to use Cha-Ching stably, you'll need the latest release which is 1.2.3. You can get it here: http://www.midnightapps.com/get/
You won't have iPhone syncing or the new interface enhancements, but those are in beta and unreliable anyway, so you wouldn't want them. -
Inappropriate? It can be frustrating, but it's what we signed on for. It's a beta. But several parts of the app show a vision I don't see in any other app.

Inappropriate?Hi Kevin,
I understand your situation and why you feel the way you feel. I am sorry if I came across like I am downplaying your issues.
That being said I do want to stress again that Cha-Ching 2.0 is definitely very much a beta. While I aim for every public release to be more stable than the last that doesn't always happen.
This particular release has several major changes to in place to the way categories are managed, payees are handled and transactions are saved.
Internal testing can only get me so far. The public release of this build has brought to light several issues which I wasn't able to identify and fix in private testing.
I read and personally respond to nearly every thread here on get satisfaction and do my best to fix all bugs that get reported here.
My point is that I do care deeply about this software and I am working diligently to make it the product that we all want it to be.
It is frustrating and disheartening to constantly hear how angry you are about Cha-Ching.
That is why I responded to you the way I did. I am only human after all. Of course I don't want you to leave cha-ching behind. I value all of my customers and appreciate all feedback that I receive. We could all do without the "Im angry/This is totally unacceptable" types of comments though as they are in no way constructive.
I Hope you can understand my point of view and please to continue to provide feedback and bug reports.
Thanks,
Juan
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?I am having a similar problem. The balance changes on two accounts when I reopen the program, and it has to do with Transfer transactions between the two accounts. Chaching (beta 107 build 443) is NOT saving Transfer transactions.
I understand that this is a beta release. When will the stable version be released?
