Soon... Although again it won't be officially released until the next update hits the App Store. We still have a few more days of work to finish and then a week or two of beta testing before that can happen.
We are working as quickly as possible though!

Inappropriate?I was just wondering this myself, it is getting frustrating not being able to create smart vaults currently

This will proibably be the same answer in 2-3 more months from now... -
Inappropriate?I really hope it is soon. I'm getting weary holding out for ChaChing 2.0. I may force myself to settle on iBank or Money. At least give more frequent blog updates on the 2.0 progress (biweekly would be nice).
I’m weary

Inappropriate? The next 2.0 beta update is ready to go. We are currently holding it back because it requires the iPhone update that is pending approval from Apple for syncing to work properly.
If you are interested in trying out the latest beta (if you aren't using our iPhone app) you can send an email to beta@midnightapps.com and we will send you a link to the latest 2.0 beta version.
I know this is frustrating but we don't want people to mistakenly update to the most recent update and then find that they can no longer sync because they don't have the most recent iPhone update.
As soon as Apple approves Cha-Ching touch 1.6 the the 2.0 update will be available to everyone. -
Honestly Juan, I think people will be WAY more upset about the fact that they can't even open Cha-Ching that about the fact that they can't sync.
Although I feel your pain regarding the App Store process, not being able to extend the existing beta due to a hard drive crash is extraordinarily unprofessional and pretty unacceptable in these days of cheap backup solutions. You guys need to get things together if you ever want to do well in business. -
I think this is hard to believe to me as well. For a company (even small one) with multiple developers there's no source control on RAID protected backup storage sounds weird to me. A crash in one computer AND time machine's copy at the same time AND no one else in the team has the source? Weird..... I would imagine all the sources gone instead of just B99? This sounds very dangerous especially you're depending on Cha-Ching to sustain your company, right?
I bought Cha-Ching touch and wait to buy the desktop version but it seems in another month we will probably hear Apple rejects the touch again? hopefully not..... :-(
Sorry if I speak harshly...... coz now I can't even open Cha-Ching on the desktop.... -
Inappropriate?I wrote for a beta but never got a reply. Anyways, I'm tired of Cha-Ching (desktop) being half baked for such a long time. You cannot impart it into your workflow because of scores of limitations. Have found a much more simple and elegant app called Money Diary on the App Store to keep up doing exactly what I need. Sad that I wasted money on something that takes an eternity to develop. I'll probably be shifting soon.
I’m about to leave
-
Yeah I emailed as well and surprise surprise got no reply. Pretty sure that isn't the first time they've said to email beta@midnightapps.com and then never responded.
I love Cha-Ching but it is beginning to get a bit silly now, as a developer myself I understand the problems Midnightapps face but I also recognise this development pattern and it rarely ends well, Cha-Ching 2 has been in beta for over a year, with no end of the beta in sight, updates fix some bugs but break other things (the last one broke smart folders for me) and then there is nothing for months. Little word from MA, maybe the odd tweet or response here but that is rare. Just after a release there is a very days/week activity and then they go silent again.
I understand that you are waiting for Apple to pull their fingers out before you can release the next beta because of changes to the syncing code, but more frequent updates should be something you aim for, this is a beta product not a final product, there are many bugs you can fix before even adding new features especially when those changes then depend on changes to the iPhone app. In future why not fix bugs and get a new beta out sooner rather than adding new features that then means you delay the desktop release, have to update the iPhone release and then can't release either until Apple have approved the iPhone app.
I don't mean to sound overly harsh, I really love Cha-Ching, but I can understand why people are getting really fed up now. As I said I am a developer so I understand the problems you face which is why I am I more inclined to wait longer but other people aren't, as seen by the fake that this comes up time and time again. Once again the major problem is communication, update the blog weekly or even bi-weekly just to let people know what you've done recently, what you've fixed or implemented, "it'll be ready soon" just doesn't cut it for most people as there is nothing but your word that anything has been done, nothing the end user can actually see to reassure themselves that things are actually progressing. -
Inappropriate?I haven't heard back either.
I really like Cha Ching a lot, but I took am growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of support. It's been in beta now for over a year with no signs of a finished product. Money Diary isn't really enough for me, so I'll probably be looking elsewhere. -
Inappropriate? If you have wrote the beta email address you will be included in the next desktop beta. We just haven't sent it out yet.
Sorry that we haven't responded directly to those of you who have requested the beta.
We know communication is important and it is definitely an area we struggle in.
We have had a hard time committing to sitting down and writing blog posts when there is so much code to be written for Cha-Ching 2.0
We know it is important and we have to change how we communicate.
To be honest it has been a very frustrating time here as of late because of Apple's inability to approve Cha-Ching touch in a timely manner. It really puts a dark cloud over Cha-Ching development. -
Inappropriate? Thanks for taking the time to clarify things. It would be great if you could just post these kind of things straight to the blog. Instead of people asking questions and having to look through the answers. Just write the most recent happenings on your blog, e.g. "We have just submitted the latest update to Apple, 5 minutes ago", and so on.
Good luck though with all the hard work.
I personally love Cha-Ching, but I'm just waiting to have a more stable version, and I'm looking for some pro features to enable me to run it as the backbone for my business.
I’m thankful
-
Inappropriate? Not convinced. I wrote *multiple* times and its been over 4 months now. I even sent you detailed bug reports with screenshots and annotations but didn't get to test any beta. So "we haven't sent it out yet" has become "sorry, bugger off, you're not getting any email from us" to me, a long time back.

Inappropriate?^ What dmccullum said :
I couldn't have put it better.
Firstly there is hardly any communication or constant update by Cha-Ching to keep customers alert. The developers obviously don't understand that this is not their goddam hobby - its causing hundreds of other people's daily workflow to crash because of their faults and shortcomings.
It is HIGHLY IRRESPONSIBLE on behalf of the developers to even try to run a company as Cha-Ching and sell products. All of a sudden you expect people to accept and digest the crap that "Cha-Ching is having a bad day" - that's why everyone has to namelessly suffer.
On a different note, I doubt whether this "rejected by Apple" excuse is true at all. Apps getting rejected by Apple may be frequent but lately people making apps have been using it as a coverup since there is no way for the end user to actually find out - hence the whole blame goes to Apple.
I didn't think it would come to this but I really had enough. Can I please have my money back ? Please respond.

Wow, that's quite an extreme response. You are really concerned about that three dollars I see. Hmmm. I think you have bigger things to deal with than your iPhone App not receiving an update. -
Yes, I am concerned about it because it didn't fall out from the sky - I had to earn it in exchange of hard work. Be it three dollars, be it three billion, money is money. I'm not running a charity here that I would just stop caring about 3 dollars because I'm not getting what I bought for it.
The amount of inconvenience this is earning me back is even more money being wasted, since time too is money for a businessman.
Sorry if I sound harsh, I really don't mean to. I would rather buy packs of biscuits to my neighborhood stray dogs for three dollars and feed them happy for an evening than waste it on a software like this. -
I guess all I'm saying is that these guys are only human and yes, they have bad days just like Apple. The only difference is Apple has a giant workforce to get these things resolved.
Midnight Apps has 2. They are developers, PR, legal, HR, marketing, tech support and janitors. -
Even though I find ramasaurus's response to rather extreme in his response, I have to disagree with you David. I don't think the fact that there are only 2 people working at Midnight Apps is a valid excuse for poor business, poor customer service and communication, etc.
Solo developers like Loren Brichter (atebits) and Jesse Grosjean (Hog Bay Software) have managed to provide high quality software, manage multiple projects, and deal with customers promptly and effectively–despite the fact that they are only 1 person. -
They need to stop and think about the customers and not about working on the new fun features. Get a stable release build out there and slowly add new things.
I've been a user for almost two years now, and the endless CC2 beta routine is tiresome. -
it's getting annoying and to be honest, Apple give an award to another app for Mac that directly compete with your App even that you were here first! I wont say the name but it is similar than yours plus a lot of extras that may be your biggest nightmare if all of us (cha-ching fans) give up and switch. think of that. -
Inappropriate?why r u need to wait for Apple to approved your iPhone app to be able to finish the desktop app? can't you finish Cha-Ching and let Apple deal with your iPhone app later on?
I’m desperate
-
Inappropriate? An idea for a future release. Allow the software to be synced from the iPhone/iPod Touch to Desktop App over a VPN connection as well. I know right now it only works over wi-fi, but it should be able to see the device over a VPN and be able to sync fairly easily, no?
Just a thought. Thanks again for such a great app.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Everyone needs to go and check out MONEYWELL from nothirst.com. Best money management out there in my opinion.

Inappropriate?I'M THINKING OF SQUIRREL APP.... I don't work in that company either....
I’m disapointed
