  • Inappropriate?
There are many reasons a video might not work, and many possible solutions:

    • Video/Page needs to be refreshed.

    • Region blocking by the host site.

    • Player requires update to newer version.

    • Player not installed in browser.

    • Player not supported by operating system.

    • Browser needs to be restarted.

    • Computer needs to be restarted.

    • Video is legitimately broken.

    Video/Page Needs to be Refreshed

Simply refresh the browser page. This is the most common problem and the easiest to fix. It's especially common with YouTube videos. YouTube times out after a while if you don't click start on the player. Refreshing the page causes YouTube to reconnect. This isn't limited to YouTube, so try refreshing the page before moving on the other possible solutions.

YouTube will display this error when the video is broken as well as when the video as timed out and simply needs to be refreshed: "This video is no longer available"

Region Blocking by the Host Site

Though many companies allow embedding their content onto our site, not all of them allow viewing from every country. Though we do not agree with this policy, it is out of our hands. Some of the most notorious offenders are NBC and Viacom. Adult Swim and Comedy Central are owned by Viacom. The Daily Show and The Colbert Report are both on Comedy Central.

Player Requires Update to Newer Version

Video formats and their players are always updating to support new features. Not all features are backwards compatible. Beneath every video is a link the player required to play that video. Try updating to the latest version of the required player.

    Player not Installed in Browser

MilkandCookies supports several formats, though we prefer Flash since it's more ubiquitous and it supports high quality video. Beneath every video is a link the player required to play that video. Try installing, reinstalling or updating the required player.

Player not Supported by Operating System

Even the most popular computer operating systems and browsers can have video players which have not been updated or ported to them. Beneath every video is a link the player required to play that video. Follow the link to see if the required player is available for your operating system.

    Browser Needs to be Restarted

When a browser has been running for a long time, especially when loaded with media files and multiple windows and tabs, it can begin to drain the system of it's resources to the point where it becomes unstable. Closing and reopening the browser can elevate these issues, causing the browser to operate properly again.

    Computer Needs to be Restarted

When a computer has been running for a long time, especially loaded with multiple heavy applications, it can begin to drain the system of it's resources to the point where it becomes unstable. Restarting the computer can elevate these issues, causing the browser to operate properly again.

    Video is Legitimately Broken

Of course, sometimes the video itself can simply be taken off the Internet by it's host. When this happens, please let us know by clicking he Flag link and reporting it.
