What happens after I submit a link?

Your link will immediately be listed on the Latest Links page.

From there your link is in the hands of other users. How they collectively rate your links value determines it's fate.

These are the four possible stages for all links. These stages are fluid. For example: a link can move from unmoderated to perminent and back to unmoderated at any time.

Unmoderated
All links start unmoderated. This simply means that you link hasn't been looked at yet, or that it hasn't been deemed worthy of being a permanent link yet.

Permanent
When a link is rated high enough, it becomes part of the permanent collection. As permanent as any link can be anyway. This is where the points start to tally up.

Headline
A link that reaches this stage is given special treatment: a specialized graphic, a few extra choice words and top billing on the most popular page of all, the front page.

Removed
If your link is rated low enough, it may be dropped from the MilkandCookies listing. Nothing personal. Not every link is right for this site.

Also, at any time an Admin may override any of these stages -- demoting, elevating or even removing your link completely. However, should your link be removed by an Admin, you will likely receive an explanation in your message inbox. Most links are removed for one or more of these reasons. If you feel like your link has been improperly handled for any reason, feel free to give us your feedback and we will look into it.

The formula used to determine to determine the progress of a link is a closely guarded secret. Here's a hint though: there is no set formula.
