Tracking a security deposit

It would be nice to be able to track deposits e.g., a security deposit for a rental property. I've currently got my security deposit listed as an asset, but I can't link transactions against it. I'd like to show the original debit from my bank account as a credit to the security deposit account. It would also be nice to be able to add an interest rate to the account as some states require that interest be paid when a deposit is refunded.
