Unable to access Sallie Mae account but there is no 'new legalese'
I am unable to add my Sallie Mae account to Mint - I have the correct username/password entered, and have answered the same security questions. The error I get on Mint is:
----------------------
We could not update your account because your bank needs you to accept new terms & conditions. This is typically very easy to resolve.
Try the following:
1. Login to Sallie Mae - Loan to see if you need accept new legal terms: salliemae.com
2. When done, please try re-adding your account.
3. If this still does not work, please call your banks customer service at 888-272-4665
----------------------
I went online to manage my account at Sallie Mae, and confirmed that I have no new loan terms or legalese to accept. I made sure to click through and view all of the little notices that Sallie Mae offers, in addition to all of the pages that they make you click through to get to the account overview.
I called Sallie Mae per instructions, trudging through phone tree and hold time. The first customer service rep could only help me with username/password. Since I have no trouble logging in manually (and it looks like Mint can too), she bounced me to a different customer service line.
After another excessively long hold time (20+ minutes), I was connected to a new service rep. I described the problem, including the 'new legal terms' error that was preventing my account access through Mint as a third party. He bounced me to a specialist. The specialist couldn't help either, so bounced me to an account servicer specialist (or somesuch).
The account servicer went through my account and confirmed that I had no outstanding terms to accept, or any items to update. Given this, there was nothing that she could do to help with the Mint error.
Total time on phone with Sallie Mae: 38 minutes. Total solutions: none. Ball is back into Mint's court.

Inappropriate?Hi Christine,
I have a Sallie Mae account too and I got the same legalese message. When I logged in, I clicked all these terms and accepted them, and like you, I still got the legalese error in Mint.
I found that I had to log into Sallie Mae 3 or 4 more times, and they kept springing new legalese every time in logged in - eventually Mint was able to sync up again. Maybe you will see the same thing
The company and 1 other person say
this solves the problem

Inappropriate?Went back AGAIN to SallieMae.com. No new legalese, as the Sallie Mae rep had earlier confirmed....but there was a new 'special offer' for Sallie Mae customers. Rejected the offer and now Mint can connect to Sallie Mae. Hoorah!
I’m finding it ridiculous that an unasked-for product offer blocks account access
