AsOpenLayers
Hi, we are starting a to work on an new AS3 map client called AsOpenLayers.
This project was stopped for few months, but we plan to give it a new life.
We don't plan to contribute directly to Modestmaps, since I think our goals in term of functionnalities or some technical choice will be different, but I think it would be really interesting for both projects to share ideas, compare implementation choices and exchange some code (or ideas) since we will use also a BSD licence.
You can found a first Roadmap draft on http://code.google.com/p/asopenlayers.... It is currently discussed on our Google Group http://groups.google.com/group/asopen...
I hope there is no problem for you if we began with some part of MM code.
Every feedback is welcomed, here or on our Google Groups.

Inappropriate?Sounds good, this is why Modest Maps is BSD licensed... you don't need to ask! http://modestmaps.com/license.txt
There's a quick reference to the core Modest Maps principles here: http://modestmaps.mapstraction.com/tr...
Some things in Modest Maps are a little rough around the edges, but there's usually a reason. That reason may be in direct opposition to the equivalent OpenLayers design choices, but I'm happy to defend/explain here as best I can. I suspect Mike is too. -
Inappropriate?Hi,
First, thanks for your answer.
AsOpenLayers contributors proposed to change the name of the project, mainly because technically we won't stay very close of OpenLayers in terms of API, even if we want to port some OpenLayers functionalities. Our ActionScript 3.0 map client project new name is OpenScales. Our new homepage is http://openscales.org
The base code we will use to start is currently under discussion between ModestMaps and a map prototype client that we developed some months ago.
I have also published a Mavenified version of ModestMaps client : http://openscales.org/p/openscales/do...
I’m excited

Inappropriate?Looks like development on OpenScales is going strong. Excited about the project.
