developers for a new open source project: degrafa and modestmap, vector/tile map!
Hi,
Do you know degrafa for Flex? It's a graphic framework.
Using degrafa and modestmaps could be great!
We could mix vector and tile... I let you imagine what we could do!
Are there people interesting in this project?
I will launch soon an open source project for that. (or include it in modestmaps?)
Farf, .. sorry for my english.

Inappropriate? Can you tell us a little bit more about degrafa? I'm aware of the project, but I'm yet to see a compelling reason to try it out...
It seems like a lot of extra work to make a fully parameterized vector component, but I rarely make something I would reuse if I went to the trouble.
How would it differ from using actionscript drawing commands, or loading vector data from an external file?
I’m undecided

Inappropriate? For people who don't know what we're talking about: http://www.degrafa.com/about/
The assertion is that MXML is easier to learn than Actionscript for both designers and programmers, and so Degrafa provides a way to draw vector graphics using similar syntax to how Flex lays out GUI components.
I'm not convinced, but I'd love to see a demo to help me evaluate it properly. -
Inappropriate?Hum your questions are about Degrafa.
First, are you ok to say that vector informations that can be easily added on top of modestmaps should have a lot of applications?
The aim is to add a vector layer easily configurable on top of modestsmaps.
Imagine for example a map of the world (like :
http://samples.degrafa.com/DegrafaMap...) and when you clic on a country, it zoom in the country. Then you have the regions, you can interact with them (mouseOver changing the color of a region, showing the informations on a panel) and you can continue zooming and have the road with opentstreetmap. You can of course have markers or others informations on each zoom. The user experience would be great, interesting, more dynamic...
All informations could be dynamically download either from different svg files either from a mapserver.
2. About degrafa.
We could add a layer on modestmaps and uploading external svg file like you said. Then we have to design all this with actionscript. Then we would like to automate the system and then develop a framework to simplify the customization of the designing process...
Why wouldn't we use degrafa which aim is to simplify the designing process?
You could make finnally very quickly a clean beautiful vector/tile map...
I don't know if I'm very clear.....
Farf, ... sorry for my english!
I’m hopping you will change your mind!

Inappropriate?how is the integration of the degrafa and modestmap?
have u published it as an open source project?
it should be cool to support vector as well as tiled-image.
hope i can join u.
I’m excited
