Google,Flash and Modest Maps, what's next?
Are there plans to create a "MapProvider" using the Google Flash API?

Inappropriate?I'm interested in making this happen, but I'm not sure it would work like a MapProvider. More likely I'd just make an IMap interface, adapt my code to use that instead of the Map class directly, and then write a wrapper for Google Maps that implemented the same interface. The same approach could work for Yahoo Maps too, and I'm pretty sure it would be in line with both companies' terms of service too.

Inappropriate?Google Flash API wrapper would be great idea, since officially it's illegal to use google tiles directly. Then the Google Flash API would manage background tiles and everything else would handled by Modest Maps api (drawing polygons, etc).

Inappropriate?Yep, that's the idea!
It's not a new one either... Modest Maps hosting is provided by Andrew Turner who also hosts the Mapstraction project (www.mapstraction.com) that does the wrapping task for a bunch of javascript APIs. The idea is to use Mapstraction's API so you're not committed to one provider when writing your own map code if you later decide to switch.
Mapstraction for Flash would be a separate undertaking to the core Modest Maps library I think, but I'd love to see it use the Modest Maps interfaces and supporting classes and I'm sure we can host and support such an effort if someone wants to start it.
