And the version within ModestMaps-AS3-1.0-latest.tar.gz (from http://modestmaps.com/download/), which was modified a month ago, will not work with the AS3 version of AbstractZoomifyMapProvider?

Subversion is a source control system you can access from the commandline tool 'svn' or using a GUI such as TortoiseSVN (Windows) or Versions (Mac).
http://modestmaps.mapstraction.com/sv... is the built-in http view for subversion. http://modestmaps.mapstraction.com/tr... is the view generated by 'Trac' which we use for bug-tracking and 'pretty' browsing of svn.
Sorry for the confusion with the download names and svn. The 'latest' downloads at http://modestmaps.com/download/ have the zoomify provider and should work fine. They are correctly dated.
