Inappropriate?You would need to find a webservice that accepts routing requests and returns responses in a lat/long form suitable for visual display in modest maps. I believe MS virtual earth might do something like this... Google would definitely be out of the question, since they prefer that all interaction with their mapping service go through their code as well.
