Real world experience with Mosso?
I'm looking at Mosso as a possible hosting solution for ourselves and our clients, and would love to get some feedback from any current Mosso customers.
We currently use Dreamhost (Virtual Private Servers) for our sites, and overall I've been very pleased with their service: control panel is the best I've seen, VPS runs reliably and is easy to scale; customer support, while being slow via email, is still friendly and helpful.
Downsides to DH: they still don't have VPS for mysql, so even while our sites don't go down our databases do; and no true static IPs.
I know that Mosso doesn't offer static IPs either. Any other significant downsides to Mosso? Upsides?
Thanks for any thoughts.

Inappropriate?Hi, I can see what I can do to answer some of your questions. I'm actually an Account Manager here at Mosso so I'll see what I can do.
The biggest thing you'll run into is that we currently do not offer a VPS environment. So you won't have SSH access or the ability to make changes to system configurations. We manage the entire system on our end.
We do offer static IP addresses, however, they are not dedicated to a specific site or account. The IP address assigned to a site is dependent on the default technology (PHP4, PHP5, Windows, or RoR) and the specific cluster within the technology. You can get a unique IP assigned to your site by using SSL on the site, however, due to how our system is setup you won't be able to use the IP address to connect to the site directly.
You might then ask how you are supposed to be able to test out your sites without pointing DNS to us or making changes to your host file. We do provide testlinks that are internal to our system only for all sites added to our system. This would allow you to test the site out before switching over.
By far, one of the things that we get the most praise for is our support. Our support team is based in San Antonio, TX along with the rest of our operations. Our support team is also here 24/7 365 through live chat, phone and email support.
If possible, I would recommend calling in or coming into live chat and speaking to our sales team. We can answer any questions you might have. -
Inappropriate?I see that this question is a few months old, and so there is more information ... I am currently testing Mosso cloud-servers and it should provide you with what you need. You can spawn as many or few servers as you wish and make them what you want. Each server gets a static IP, and so you can setup Apache/PHP on one server, and then spawn a very very powerful one and make it just a MYSQL server. This will enable you to get the separate mySQL server you want.
This is what I think about the Mosso Cloud Service so far (blog entry)
