HD video quality?
I'm looking at Motionbox, but in testing the HD video I found the quality to be quite lacking compared to the same file uploaded at Vimeo.
Has anyone else done similar comparisons?
Are there plans for improving quality?

Inappropriate?Hi,
Thanks for your post!
We'd love to know more about your video such as its source (camera, model etc) and did you edit the video in any way prior to upload to both Motionbox and Vimeo?
Also, if you don't mind posting your comparison by providing links to how the video plays back on both sites, this would be great. If you don't want to post that information here, sending an email to us at support at motionbox dot com would work too.
We'd love to help out with your video playback in any way we can.
Cheers,
Anita W.

Inappropriate?I think the main observation I have is that Motionbox videos look soft compared to Vimeo. Vimeo seems a bit sharper and 'tighter' when viewed full-screen.
I did a some testing this morning with H.264 video, where previously I was using WMV. The H.264 is a bit better, to the point where I'd say it's fine. Still softer on Motionbox than on Vimeo, though. Example video on Motionbox & Vimeo. Camera is a Canon HV30, no post-processing other than stitching. Rendered as H.264 MP4.
I'm working on a test clip with a little more motion in it to see how that fares.
I've been working on a Mac, but I thought I'd check the quality on a PC too, and I ran into a different issue. The flash player is really slow on both my windows computers. Full screen in particular is unwatchable. It seems to be CPU, the processor pegs out and the playback gets choppy. It's definitely not bandwith.
One computer is a 1.6ghz, but the other is a 3.0 dual-core Pentium (XP). Interestingly, neither have trouble playing the same videos on Vimeo at full screen.
Anyone run into this? -
Inappropriate? Thanks for uploading and comparing video playback.
We've also played back both of your videos in full screen and haven't encountered any playback issues in full screen on either Motionbox or Vimeo. I'm on a PC myself (2.0 ghz, intel 2 dual core).
Your input is appreciated and if you need any assistance going forward, do let us know.
Best regards,
Anita W.
