Improve the Site Navigation

Just signed up for Motionbox and I think I've finally found a home for my HD video (shot with Canon HF100). My comment is about the site navigation. Admittedly I'm a newbie so maybe I'm just missing something, but the nav seems awkward. For example if I'm viewing a video, there seems to be no way (other than browser "back" button) to return to the folder I was in, to view the "next" video in that folder, etc. Similarly navigating to a specific folder is a two-step process, because the Motionbox drop down menu doesn't list the folders, only "Folders" from which you then can choose a particular folder. Maybe you can use these comments to make the navigation a little smoother/easier. Meanwhile I'm loving the ability to view and share my m2ts files without a clunky conversion process! Soon I will get them organized and start sharing them with friends. Thanks Motionbox!!!

When you are viewing a video, there is a feature to the top right of your player that is titled "Videos from <username>." The videos that appear there should be from the folder you are in at that time.

That would be a good idea.
I also would like to see nested folders. My list of folders is getting very long and unorganized. Really annoying.
Then it would be very easy to make certain folders private and others public.
The photo storing site Zenfolio has understood this very well.

Otherwise I like Motionbox very well.

I would also like to add that "Flickr"-like navigation to Next/Prev video is not a good idea, these are not photos in a slideshow... You-tube-like would be better with a list of videos on the right and a thumbnail.

Also, it would be fantastic if the default landing page for /profiles/<username> showed the folder list instead of "recently added" and a little link to "View All" (or at least configurable). Some of my visitor are not that great with English and sometimes don't even go beyond what I have recently added simply because the don't see how.

Overall, the more "visual" the design is the less textual links you need to navigate...

Yep, better site navigation and ability to search for mbrs and vids and allow other mbrs to add you, with your(my) approval of course, to their contacts without having to include an emil address.

I’m full of suggestions.

And to Chris and erik, I'm sure you already noticed this, but you can now access a video's folder directly from the video's play page. Hopefully that makes things somewhat easier!

Hey erik - Sorry about that, I actually edited my post a few minutes ago because what I meant was that we've implemented a type of breadcrumb navigation, not nested folders. Sorry for the confusion! What we now offer is a link from your video's play page back to that video's folder, so that you can easily browse other videos from that folder. This is something Chris asked for originally in this post.

Hope that helps explain things a bit and sorry again for any confusion!

I have many, many videos. I am trying to get organized. I want a limited amount of folders, otherwise it gets sooooo unorganized. I do not know anymore where I should put my new videos. I do not want them in one big folder.
I am loading concert videos.
I like to have all my Bach Concerts in one folder.
I give many different concerts. (I need a "Concert" Folder)
- One type of concert are Bach solo performances (I need a BACH SOLO folder)
- Each Bach concert has 36 videos
- There are 6 Bach Concerts on different venues (I need a Venue Folder)
- So there are in total of 216 videos

So this is how my Structure should look like:

- Concerts
- BACH
- VENUE
- BEETHOVEN
- VENUE
- MOZART
- VENUE
- LECTURES
- VENUE

Etc

How do you suggest I organize all this?

I understand that it must be frustrating to organize many different kinds of videos into folders and I'm sorry for all the trouble! While implementing nested folders *is* on the roadmap, I can't guarantee exactly when this will be offered or promise that will be offered in the very near future.
