MediaRSS?
I'm not seeing a way to get an RSS feed of my videos. Is there one that I'm not seeing?
Ideally I'd like a MediaRSS feed for each album.

Hi John,
Thanks so much for passing along all this information to us! I forwarded it onto our engineering team since they are already discussing the RSS feed. They really appreciated your suggestions and said that you hit the nail on the head! :)
Thanks again,

Inappropriate?I want RSS feeds for dynamically displaying and embedding my playlists on my own webpages. See www.QuarterHorseVideos.com to get an idea of how I have done this with other services.

Inappropriate?Sorry stm, this post and a few other Get Satisfaction posts seem to have gotten lost somehow!
The good news is that we *will* be working on this for you guys. While I can't promise any set dates, please rest assured that we're aware this is a feature that will be useful to you, and that you'll hopefully be seeing it sometime in the future :).
Thanks,

Inappropriate?Woo woo! That's good news. :) Make sure the programmers know that we need to be able to have RSS for playlists of our creation and choice. (As opposed to just a global rss that we can't pick and choose for.)
I’m just fine.

Inappropriate?Any progress on the rss feed?

Inappropriate?Hi Rav,
This is still something we plan on implementing, but unfortunately not something you'll see on Motionbox right away. There are lots of new things happening at Motionbox, and we still do have this on our road map.
Thanks so much for your patience with us!
Best,

That's too bad Mona. I too think an RSS feed would be fantastic, this means I could easily add my motionbox videos to my AppleTV -
Inappropriate?+1 for RSS feed. I too would like to buy and appletv for my parents-inlaw and my mother.

Inappropriate?I think we all know that RSS doesn't take this long to implement. I believe there must be some ulterior concern that's preventing this feature from being implemented. Perhaps MotionBox isn't ready for the traffic that syndication would cause. At any rate, I think we need a better answer than "just wait" at this point. To stress the importance of this feature; I will not be renewing my subscription if feeds of my videos are not available. Everything I make online needs to have a feed, or it might as well not exist. Why pay for something that no-one will see?
I’m bossy

Well, you can make your own rss feed manually, or programmatically with some php or asp coding. I agree however, it will be cool when Motionbox has it set up to plug n play, and I don't see how that could be so complicated. All they have to do is put in some code to generate it from the database. -
Inappropriate?Hi Jesse,
There are some very big projects currently being worked on that have taken highest priority and our team is rather small. However, RSS is an agenda item upcoming.
Please also keep in mind that many of our users are sharing personal, private video and for that reason they are using Motionbox. So we have some mixed user cases of some wanting their videos to be very public and others who prefer to keep them very quiet!
In any case, do feel free to check in with us about this feature. You guys actually got the team here actively discussing it. :-)
Best regards,
Anita W.

Inappropriate?Thanks for the response Anita.
I spent a portion of the weekend investigating different options to solve my desires. Basically, I want my mom/in-laws to be able to view our videos of our child very easily on their TV. Everyone is located around the US and in Europe.
I am a ruby on rails developer/consultant and I decided I wanted to generate a video podcast feed (using the large mp4 files) to try and use for apple TV. Since apple TVs are only $229, I thought it would be a nice, easy to use device for less tech savy people. The problem with apple TV and podcasts is, that they do not allow you to add a podcast feed external to itunes without syncing it from a computer unless it is in there index of preapproved podcasts. I do not want my relatives to have to sync itunes on a computer with apple tv, so I have basically 2 options.
1. Add my family feed to itunes (requires approval) also makes it public so the whole world can see it :(
2. Install Boxee on AppleTV so I can add my feed directly.
I went with point 2 for now, and it seems to work well. (I generate my feed programatically with Ruby and publish it to Amazon S3.)
Motionbox: it would be a killer feature in my opinion to provide a podcast feed that can be consumed by apple tv etc. So all my mom (a soon to be grandma) would have to do to watch our videos is fire up apple tv -> podcasts. Apple TV also shows our flickr feed, so they have everything in one place without needing a computer.
You could make the feed password protected (I think boxee, etc will handle HTTP_AUTH) or make it an obscure feed name that is not published (aka flickr photo urls)
Thanks,
John

Inappropriate?Should I just start writing my own screen scraping app to show you guys how it's done?
-
Inappropriate?Hi Jesse,
I'm sorry you won't see this feature yet on our site but it's still pending.
Thanks for providing some humor though!
