Fury Mech
just a quiky.
i got an old deore mech on my fury
its about the only thing that i havent replaced since geting my new frame.(few bits left to change)
basicly eveything else it XT 9 speed
i know its a 31.8 bottem pull and top swing
so will this be ok? im running 2.4 tyres
im usually ok with sorting my own bike out. but front mechs allways mess with my head. and wanna make sure it gonna fit ok without causing any probs.

Inappropriate?I guess I should ask the question... is it working? If it is, then all is good :)
-
Inappropriate?erm.. i havnt bought it yet.
im only asking this, as when i had my san andreas. i upraded the mech and the newer one caused probs.
i had to go back to the older one -
Inappropriate?Ahhhh!
Specs say:
31.8, top swing, bottom pull. -
Inappropriate?Ummm and yes, that did not answer your question either ;)
In short, hard to say. No reason why it won't be ok but might require a bit of tweakage, like most front mechs do.
Best advice I can say is slap on the old one, give it a go and if it works leave it. The only thing I can see being an issue is the length of the cage, which might be a little longer than newer ones.
No answer there I know.
Best advice? Abandon the front mech and second ring. I did and never looked back. Ya don't need 'em :)
I’m silly

Inappropriate?haha..im a 3 ringer on the front.ride alot of street too. want speed
i will just do what i do....cheers for..erm help :p
realise now why i had probs with the san andreas.. i had a much larger outer ring
((some fsa afterburner thing i bought ..but it all worn out now.cant find spares))..
and with geomitry changes it made big probs.(diff shocks etc)
but im standerd outer ring size now and no geomitry options..
so jobs a goodun :)
p.s dont wanna put/leave the old one on... its a new build..
everything on this bike is being upgraded!
got cash..will spend
I’m a cheeky mechist

Inappropriate?Hey skellz did you get this sorted?
If not I'm using a similar FD.
It worked BUT due to the cage length, I did have tire clearance issues.
To cure this you can space the drive side crank arm out further,or if you are using an older style ISIS BB you could run a longer axle BB (for example 118 instead of 113) and tune the FD outboard just enough to clear the tire.
I'm not positive if this will work with a 3 ring setup, but it works for me with a dual ring-bash setup and a 2.4 tire.
You could also look into a Shimano SLX FD. They are available with a shorter cage.

i havent done anything as yet. im running a 2.4 and using hollotech BB and have a spacer on allready. so this should be ok.

Inappropriate?Just curious, what rear skewer do you use? If you're getting a lot rubbing on the derailleur from the tire, you might want to check the quality of the clamping mechanism. I used to have this problem, as well as occasional creaking, when I used Hope skewers. (Don't get me wrong, the skewers are well made, but compared to the stiffness of the Fury frame, this is the weak link.)
I switched to King Funbolts (their version of 10mm thru axle) and the problem is almost totally resolved. Only ever happens on granny gear, high power, and crossing a rut diagonally at the same time. I run a 2.25", but it actually measures at 2.25". Your mileage may vary...
I’m amused

Inappropriate? My issues were not due to flex. Though I do experience what you mention with certain skewers.
My issue was due to large tires.
When tuned-aligned correctly with larger tires, the derailleur cage was too close to the side knobs on the tire and would rub.
When I angled the cage away from the tire enough to clear, The chain line was way off and would rub the cage.
The wider BB cured this problem because It spaced the granny ring further away from the BB shell allowing me to also space the derailleur cage out away from the tire.
This was not an issue with 2.3 or smaller tires.
