I would definitely like to see some external application launching ability.
Personally, I'd like to be able to Ubiq:
email MESSAGE from x to Sarah
and have Thunderbird appear, select my inbox/account that most closely matches x, and compose an email containing MESSAGE to the person on my contacts list who most closely matches Sarah.
But that's just me. I'd really love to see Ubiquity go a lot farther in the realm of all in one linguistic computing. But I'll settle for Thunderbird integration for a start.
auto-complete is broken for gmail. Ubiquity can't find my most emailed to contacts from gmail. Instead, it auto-completes with some very obscure addresses which I rarely use and have nothing to do with my query.
For example: Let's say I have a jdoe@gmail.com in my address book. If I type "email this to jd" it will auto-complete with mary@gmail.com, or even worse, it will create it's own addresses. like mary@yahoo.com, which doesn't even exist in my Gmail account!!! Check out the image attached. I wanted to find an email that starts with nino and it suggested a bunch of numbers!!! and the other one with a yahoo.com domain which is bogus.
Honestly, this is a feature that I'm not entirely sure that I would use. Being a nerd and a programmer I love the text based terminal interface. But if I were the kind of person intimidated by that flashing command line prompt, I might not be nearly as excited about ubiquity as I am. So maybe at some point voice recognition might not be a bad idea, though perhaps it should be when the plugin is further along in its development. With voice recognition, I could easily see ubiquity becoming, well, ubiquitous.
I selected a picture, then issued "email to michelle". An error popped up stating "an exception occurred while running the command "email to michelle". TypeError: gmonkey is undefined.
This is a stab in the dark, but does this mean that ubiquity depends on greasemonkey? If so, it would have been nice to know that before.
I am running xp pro, without greasemonkey (if that even matters)
Firefox 3 automatically restarts upon logging in. It is not in my Login items. I'm using Mac OS X 10.5.5. The only change I made was basically updated my hard drive--meaning I cloned my old hard drive to a larger one. The "error message" if you could call it that, says it has something to do with Ruby. Anyone else experiencing this?
When I make "email this to kris" it only work properly if I already had a tab open with the gmail inbox. If not, only opens a tab that shows me my inbox.
go to facebook, go to hotmail, go to gmail, go to yahoo, go to amazon, go to cnet, go to dpreview. i think it would be nice if Ubiquity could have a list of common websites (and their abbreviations) which can be updated by the community. the user would just type "go to <website name="true">". if there are more than one website with similar titles, the user could be shown both websites and be allowed to choose which one to go to.</website>
The define works fine, but how about something like "define <word> with wiktionary in <language>" so that you don't go to answers.com by default? it should also recognize rearrangements, i.e.: "define <word> in <language> with wiktionary". if the person typed "define <word> with answers" it would go to answers.com</word></language></word></language></word>
I ended up on getsatisfaction.com by seeking support for Twitter and thought that this would be a great program for Mozilla to adopt and use but not surprising to me at all is the fact that Mozilla is already on top of it.
I was surprised to see that there are official Mozilla reps and employees here which I find to be very cool that ya'll (yes ya'll) are taking the time to hang out and help people directly.
I have a few questions that anyone is welcomed to answer.
Is this a program that you'd like to see more end users of Mozilla's products use as a help and support solution or is it just a cool side gig? I guess what I'd really like to know is would you like to see this service used as a replacement for current (and official) help and support solutions or in addition to them and why?
It wouldn't be too hard to get the word out that there's a new and/or additional help and support service for Mozilla's products.
I'd like to help out as much as I can but I'm obviously not an official Mozilla rep or employee. Would it be ok to use the "Add yourself as an employee of Mozilla" form and enter in that I'm a volunteer? If so, does that info need to be verified by one of you? If so, who do I send the bribe assets to?
(insert bribe requests here---->______)
Thanks
Ken
is there any way I can change the font used for Ubiquity? Currently looks like Times New Roman which looks terrible. There is also a border around the window that looks like it shouldn't be there. (Vista x64 with Firefox 3.0.1).
For example, I think the logo of this "Get Satisfaction" website is interesting and want to send it to my friends per email. Can I do this with Ubiquity?
Does anyone know if it's safe to subscribe to the Herd feed? The warning page is harsh. I'd really like to add some scripts, but I'd like to hear about some other people's experiences before I hit 'subscribe.' Thanks.
The one major drawback of using gmail as opposed to outlook or other win32 clients is the ability to paste in a screenshot. Being able to use Ubiquity to paste a screenshot from the clipboard similar to inserting a map from your examples would be incredibly useful.
I am well peed off with Firefox, 2 weeks I have been having problems with this, crashes before I have even started, stupid updates are spoiling it for us all. The imcompetance is
completey shocking. Do your job!!! If the problem can not be fixed I advise a free download to a version that does work in order to retain and keep the people who have not alreday wash there hands with this annoying problem. Even a suggestion to another WORKING browser would be nice. Do you know how rubbish Internet explorer is? I could travel across the country to where my nan lives and dust off an old encylopeadia and find the information quicker myself than it takes for explorer to load a page, put on a possitive note at least it works.
If you use this company's products or services, we'll add the company to your dashboard. If you work for this company, we'll add you as an employee. Got it, thanks!
