Recently created problems in Mozilla

About every third time I start the computer, the Google home page and all my bookmarks in the sidebar disappear and I get a screen that has only the Home icon working! NOTHING ELSE does! In the sidebar I have the word Bookmarks with and "x" on the right side and a Search space below that that does nothing. I am about to get rid of Mozilla Firefox as my browser as it has been a very frustrating experience trying to chase things all over the place

I've been noticing recently that my homepage (Google, logged in for iGoogle) is shifted to the left on first load of Firefox. A reload sets the page right.

I disabled all of my new addons and reenabled them one by one. The problem did not present until I reenabled Ubiquity (which I did last).

This doesn't happen when I set other pages to my homepage (msn.com, cnn.com), but iGoogle fills the entire page, while these others only use the center.

Any ideas?

There are a few different filetypes that Firefox (3.0.3) seems to despise opening, but the one that I encounter the most frequently (and the only one I can remember) is PDF files. If I click a link for a PDF, fx thinks for a while, and then crashes, giving me the option to send a crash report and reboot. If I right-click and save the link, it works fine, but I'd like to be able to open PDFs in the browser window.

I (THINK) that some PDFs do work, and I seem to remember hitting upon the epiphany a few weeks ago that it's PDFs saved on a Mac that cause my fx to crash (Vista Ultimate).

Is this a known issue with Adobe/Mac/Firefox?

(it might be interesting to note that I cannot export to .doc [for example] the PDFs saved on a Mac because of the following error:

"Acrobat was unable to make this document accessible because of the following error:

Bad PDF; could not read page structure (bad page contents). <bad> [7]

Please note that some pages of this document may have been changed. Because of this failure, you are advised to not save these changes."

Could this be the cause of the fx crashes?)

In case response contains script code and that too very long mozilla 1.7.8 skips that execution alltough it seems to work fine with mozilla 1.7.13

I am well peed off with Firefox, 2 weeks I have been having problems with this, crashes before I have even started, stupid updates are spoiling it for us all. The imcompetance is
completey shocking. Do your job!!! If the problem can not be fixed I advise a free download to a version that does work in order to retain and keep the people who have not alreday wash there hands with this annoying problem. Even a suggestion to another WORKING browser would be nice. Do you know how rubbish Internet explorer is? I could travel across the country to where my nan lives and dust off an old encylopeadia and find the information quicker myself than it takes for explorer to load a page, put on a possitive note at least it works.

For the past two months, or so, when I open Firefox, it RANDOMLY takes me to a "Firefox Startup Screen" and I can't use the browser. My only recovery is to reboot the computer so I am now using IE7 more than I want to. What is going on? I never used to have problems like this with Firefox 2.xxx Also, when this happens, I can't see any of my bookmarks and cannot navigate to another site, even if I try to invoke preferences. This is happening on two different computers. One running XP and the other Vista. The only common denominator is I do have Norton 360 and I saw the other posted issue which sounds different.

Ubiquity prompt completely blank regardless of input, even after multiple uninstall/installs. OSX, latest FF.

I get an error whenever I try to use a command (but hey, one problem at a time). When the error pops up (as an 'ubiquity notification' in the top left hand corner) I can't get it to disappear, even after having closed Firefox completely.

I use the following code

but typing 'test 4 p 200 s 1' results in p having the value of '200 s 1' and s being undefined.

Why do some pages take forever to load or timeout in firefox? If I stop it and try to re-load a few times, sometimes it goes right to it... other times it timesout again.

If I right click any select box, no menu (context menu) appears.
Worked before FF3.

auto-complete is broken for gmail. Ubiquity can't find my most emailed to contacts from gmail. Instead, it auto-completes with some very obscure addresses which I rarely use and have nothing to do with my query.

For example: Let's say I have a jdoe@gmail.com in my address book. If I type "email this to jd" it will auto-complete with mary@gmail.com, or even worse, it will create it's own addresses. like mary@yahoo.com, which doesn't even exist in my Gmail account!!! Check out the image attached. I wanted to find an email that starts with nino and it suggested a bunch of numbers!!! and the other one with a yahoo.com domain which is bogus.

(1) - I have set Firefox to open the profiles choosing window when it's opened.

Now, when I open a link from the im program sapo messenger (http://messenger.sapo.pt/), neither does Firefox open nor the profile choosing window appears and trying to open firefox.exe does not open Firefox. I have to end firefox.exe process in order to open Firefox correctly.

This does not happen and the link I clicked will be followed if I have at least one Firefox window opened. However, I think that when I click such an hyperlink Firefox should show me the profiles window and after I chose the profile, show the page the hyperlink referred to.

I have spoke to sapo messenger's support and they say Firefox is not handling the hiperlink from sapo messenger correctly and I guess they're right, because this only happens because my Firefox is set as referred in (1).

Special character do not display correctly. Instead of characters like a dash, ñ, etc, I get a square with numbers and letters in it.

I've tried changing my character encoding, but that hasn't worked.

getGmailContacts() used by noun_type_contact doesn't handle quoted names.

Simple quoted values can be handled by changing the splitLine to:

Any search with ampersands truncates anything after the ampersand. For example, "AT&T" will search for "AT".

Mozilla Crash Reporter has come up, but whenever I choose Restart Mozilla, it comes back to the Crash Reporter. I've tried running in Safe Mode, and even choosing a minimal boot-up and a blank session, after a couple of seconds, BAM! Crash Reporter.

The ubiquity weather command display is broke whenever I look up a city for the first time after booting my PC. The humidity level is partially gone. (content overflow in contras to size of ubiquity window)

I'm trying to select text on web pages in Firefox 3.0.1, but pressing the mouse button and moving the cursor results in the entire browser app moving around on my screen.

Running Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.4
