How amazing would it be if you made the firefox address bar into ubiquity. Not only could I go directly to web pages, but do all sort of searches as well as highlight information on any page and do stuff with it in the address bar. The Smart Location Bar is great but this would make it amazing. Also you would not really need the search box anymore because you would be able to do the searches directly from the address bar.
Doesn't play well with google apps. It's taking the contacts from my regular gmail account and using my google apps account to send emails. Can't access google app contacts at all.
I've been thinking about some of the similarities between Ubiquity and Launchy, and I think each project could benefit from the other. A quick overview: Both projects are based on the "type what you want to do" idea, both include capability for creating custom commands and command types.
Since this is the Mozilla section, the Ubiquity suggestion first. The command interpreter used in Launchy is extremely clever, in that it "learns", can recognise commands from any part of the name, and has an effective "Do What I Mean" system. This system can at the least provide inspiration for the one to be used in the final versions of ubiquity.
Entirely separately, a plugin for launchy to enable integration with ubiquity would be a way to make things easier, and would help to avoid hotkey conflicts such as one already mentioned here.
So, let's see. What about giving the user an option in about:ubiquity to change his location? I'm from Germany and I don't wanna search on the English wiki or amazon.com. There is de.wikipedia.org and amazon.de. The weather is in Celsius, not Fahrenheit. And also you can add a translation for the Interface, too.
And, at grand final, you can give the hobby "developer" an instruction how to translate ubiquity and the commands. Maybe the commands can be flexible? So I can should be asked is there an Germany Amazon (or an Amazon in my language) and I can say yes, url: amazon.de and the graphical interface do the rest... maybe this works with an second add-on which interested people can use to translate it?
And if a user want to release the trans he can just do it. But please only one per country or so...
Do the best with this.

is there any other product that can do this? The google one hasn't been updated in almost 2 years now and I'd like to see something like this for my home/work computers
I discovered that Ubiquity doesn't work when Kiobo Toolbar is enabled. I had to go through my extensions one by one to find the culprit. Fortunately, I didn't get to play with Kiobo so I don't know what I'm missing. Being a die-hard Quicksilver user I know how useful Ubiquity will be.
Hi David! You'll note that GS allows you to create any number of "products" under the Mozilla banner.
Is it okay if we use this to seperate discussions about specific extensions being planned for TB? Meaning, we'd set-up planned extensions as "pseudo-products" under Mozilla?
I just think that'd make it easier for developers and "fans" to follow particular initiaitves.
Hello Everyone! The idea of this thread is to allow people to post ideas for add-ons or extensions for Thunderbird AND to allow people to vote on these ideas.
This way Mozilla and any developer/s working here could quickly see which ideas are wanted the most and include them in their work or create something completely new to address the want.
Let's just please follow these simple rules so it's all easy to track...
1. To post an idea, use the "reply" feature, NOT the "add a comment" feature
2. To vote for an idea, use the "add a comment" feature right below the idea you want to vote for, NOT the "reply" feature
Hope this helps build momentum for TB ideas! Thanks!
I am trying to write my own Ubiquity command, and I would like to use the existing commands as a reference (specifically the search commands). However, I can't find the existing commands in a file anywhere on my computer, and a search of the web has turned up nothing. I imagine the answer to this is quite simple, but I haven't been able to find it. I should add that I'm working in Linux right now, but would also like to know where this would be found in Windows.
When Hit-a-Hint add-on is activated, Ubiquity can not post tweets to twitter or post events to Google Calendar, hitting "Enter" doesn't give any response.
I'm trying to make a ubiquity command that searches within a domain. The site already has a built-in search function which I'd prefer if I could use that, but I can probably work with it doing a google search and adding Site:sitename.com to the end. But I have no clue how to do either of these. Any feedback would be appreciated, I'm still trying to learn how to program these commands.
Why doesn't my email generated by this plug in doesn't look the same?
When I select an image and text, I don't see the image and text in the right way like in the promo video? And the receiving person doesn't see the image either just some HTML-like tags!
