A few feature musings
Search Engine Integration
My coding abilities are limited to copying and pasting others' work, reading it, and modifying it for my own use. So, I started wring simple site search scripts for various sites. Then I realized, why not just have Ubiquity be able to use the search engines that Firefox already has. The Mycroft Project has an enormous list of search engines which would enhance Ubiquity greatly without needing to write new scripts for each site. Both Sherlock and OpenSearch plugins are supported I believe.
Yubnub Integration
Speaking of which, how about adding yubnub support? I have a search written, but it would save a few keystrokes to not have to type yub before the other commands and have Ubiquity know what each yubnub command does when you type it.
Bookmarks Integration
In the same vein, how about a bookmark search command? I have a rather large hierarchical collection that I routinely search with launchy, FARR, executor etc.
Also I would really like to see the subscriptions evolve like userscripts.org and userstyles.org are socially, but I bet it's only a matter of time. My only real gripe with the system is how some subscriptions include multiple scrips I may not want.

Inappropriate?Dietrich is working on some commands to search your bookmarks, tags, and history.
If you look at the implementation of the search commands (in ubiquity/chrome/content/builtincmds.js for those who have the source code), you'll see that the only difference between most of the search commands is their name, description text, and the URL that they connect to. It's parameterized to the point where search commands are data, not code. So we could pretty easily make all the search engines into arguments to a single "search" command, or have a command "learn this search engine", or crazy stuff like that.

Inappropriate?Regarding searching by using the installed search engines, I have a command here that does just that: http://theunfocused.net/moz/ubiquity/...

Inappropriate? That's good to hear. Blair, I applaud you. Now alll that time I spent copying and pasting went to waste. :P
I’m amused

Um, how do I invoke it? "search" "engine" "query" right? It's not working for me, I only see the Ubiquity built in searches. -
Inappropriate?I would highly recommend making one thread for each idea (except I think the bookmarks one has already been made), that way they can be tracked individually.
Use search from the main mozilla get satisfaction page for them. Bookmarks looks like there's a few:

Specific issue for OpenSearch engines reported here: http://getsatisfaction.com/mozilla/to... -
Inappropriate?IMO Ubiquity coupled with the IE8 Beta 2’s Activities would be near-perfect. Ubiquity has to take search plugin keywords to be really useful. The current approach of specialized command feeds is simply too restrictive. Why not take advantage of the already existing search plugins instead of reinventing everything? (It’s also better integrated with the browser that way)
@Blair McBride:
Doesn't that defeat the purpose of using Ubiquity? Instead of doing things with fewer steps, now you have to type more. It's best to be able to just use the search keyword defined by the user. Take for example IE8 Beta 2's Activities: although it uses specialized Activities it lists the search plugins as well.

IE8 Activities for firefox is at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fire...
Is that what you were looking for? -
Inappropriate?I'd also like to mention YeahWay (it enables per-user commands, and can be modified to access Yubnub). I'd imagine a skilled coder would be able to implement Yubnub/YeahWay functionality via a well-made subscription.
I’m excited about the possibilites
