Can't get Firefox icon to appear in the Dock...
I am new to a mac. I downloaded Firefox, and I guess the icon went into the Dock. After a shutting down and restarting, Firefox disappeared altogether and I can't get the icon in the dock again. Can I delete Safari?

Inappropriate?I would suggest you not delete Safari.
The dock is different than the taskbar on windows. It shows running programs and programs that have the "keep in dock" checkmark checked. To add Firefox to the dock, open Firefox by opening the Finder (the happy face to the far left of the dock), clicking Applications in the sidebar, finding Firefox (it may be at the very bottom!), and dragging it to the dock. This checks the "keep in dock" item. Likewise, you can remove Safari simply by dragging it out of the dock while it is not running (if you drag it out while it IS running, it won't disappear until you exit Safari).
