Customizing the destination of spam?

Has custom spam folders (i.e. saying "[Gmail] > Spam" is the spam folder) been set up yet? I am thinking about trying Thunderbird 3 (I was going to try Correo but never got around to it) and don't want to use it if it can't train both itself and gMail (putting things in the spam folder over IMAP tells gmail the item is spam and trains the filter, so both clients learn at the same time).

Not that Mail.app can train it, but I'm already using Mail.app for other things.

P.S.: I know this is under "Mozilla has a question for you, yes you!" but it's not actually. I'm just not as familiar with the state of the Thunderbird project as another GS user might be. While I may be a "Official Rep", that only means that I'm able to help others out, and that means looking up solutions to problems with existing features.
