Firefox 3 Automatically starts upon login.
Firefox 3 automatically restarts upon logging in. It is not in my Login items. I'm using Mac OS X 10.5.5. The only change I made was basically updated my hard drive--meaning I cloned my old hard drive to a larger one. The "error message" if you could call it that, says it has something to do with Ruby. Anyone else experiencing this?

Inappropriate?Nope. And I've got some HP Product Research thing that crashes every time I login even though it's not one of my login items, so there must be some other on login thing, have you done some googling for an in general "hidden" list of login items?
Also, I've done cloning of my disk a few times. Once on PPC 10.4->10.4 (bigger disk), and once from PPC 10.4-> Intel 10.4 (new macbook), so... shouldn't be that.
Since you say there's an error message with Ruby, do you mean in the browser? Maybe there's some ruby server booting in the background like webrick and it wants to load a page to show you its output, so Firefox is opening up. Try changing your default browser to Safari and see if Safari starts opening on login.

Inappropriate?Since Firefox recently prompted me to update to the new version, it starts up at login. I, too, have a Mac OS 10.5.5. I looked at my Login items, Firefox was not checked. I do not want it to start automitically.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate? Here's a question: Do you guys use Wakoopa Tracker? I use it and recently it started randomly loading Firefox.app (took me a while to figure out what it was).
-
No, I don't use Wakoopa Tracker. -
Inappropriate? Here's what I did, I switched default browsers from FF3 to Safari and, to my surprise, Safari automatically started upon login too. It had the same start page as FF did. Check this out and maybe someone could make sense of it.
I’m confused

Can you post the full URL in the address bar, as that would really help. Also, it's something from Ruby, of course. -
Inappropriate?Sure file:///System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/doc/libxml-ruby-0.3.8.4/rdoc/classes/XML/Node.src/M000180.html

Yeah, you've obviously got something trying to open up a html file every time your computer starts. I don't know what it is, and googling for that provides no assistance. Try here perhaps? http://getsatisfaction.com/37signals -
Inappropriate?Try going to your Account Preferences and Select Login Items...is Firefox in the list and checked?
-
Inappropriate?Try this link:
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthrea...
the "right-click the firefox icon in the dock" tip fixed it for me.
Best of luck,
I’m happy
