The most common types of crashes are caused by add-ons. Please try safe mode. Safe Mode is a special way of running Firefox that temporarily disables extensions, themes and toolbar changes. If your problem stops while in this mode, we can find the item that is causing the trouble.

I understand that if crashes are random, it is going to be hard to troubleshoot in safe mode. If this is the case just supply me with the add-ons that you have installed and I'll see what I can do.

Inappropriate?If by "close itself" you mean "disappear", there is a thread for that and we are trying to figure out what causes it (we here on Get Satisfaction, not we Mozilla).
