Firefox freezes for a few seconds after searching for a word with awesome bar
I have a really annoying problem with the awesome bar:
If i enter a normal URL everything is fine and Firefox is transferring me to the web page i have asked immediately.
When i enter a word to look up in the awesome bar and press the enter key, Firefox completely freezes for about 5 seconds and only after it transfers me to the web page related to the word or to a Google search with the word.
This is very annoying. in the 5 seconds that Firefox freezes i can't do anything with it, the whole user interface is stuck and nothing responds, neither other tabs.
I am using Firefox 3.0.10 and i have also tried to run Firefox in safe mode without all the extensions but still, same thing happens.
Can anyone help solve this frustrating problem ?

i think the two problems are not related.
my problem is that firefox freezes completely for about 5 seconds after i enter a word in the awesome bar and press enter. i don't quite understand what it has to do with the other problem. -

Inappropriate?i can hear it hardcore searching my harddrive whenever I want to edit an URL in the address bar. FF freezes completely then. this is absolutely annoying. i surf a lot, could be due to a looong history of visited websites maybe.
EDIT: turns out, it's the damn library causing this. i deleted the past surf history ("Chronik" in German) in the library (July-October) and after a restart FF is freekin' fast again.
