Firefox hangs and lags after launching
I can't figure this out.
I launch Firefox (3 and beta versions), it hangs on any website for thirty seconds (launching into gmail, search results, clicked link from email, what have you)
Any insight?
I have one really lightweight extension running (laterloop).

Inappropriate?Well, if you're sure it's just one extension, I'd really suggest trying a new profile. If that works, you can recover the important data from the old one and keep all your bookmarks and passwords. To do that, follow the instructions in Basic Troubleshooting.

Inappropriate?I had the same set of problems that appeared with FF 3.0.5, including:
1. Long time to load new tabs
2. Long time to open new links in new tabs
3. Appearance of "hanging" - cursor shows busy, and tabs seem frozen for 5-10 seconds
4. When FF comes out of its frozen mode, several tabs show "Page load error"
None of these problems appeared with IE or Google Chrome.
Problems 1-3 vanished when I turned off my Symantec Norton AV and Windows Defender completely. All pages/tabs loaded instantly, with no appearance of freezing or hanging.
However, problem 4 remains, where some new tabs *instantly* show "Page load error".
Hope some of this helps. I know it's not a solution (I can't obviously disable my computer's lines of defense), but maybe someone from the Mozilla team is listening and has a better workaround or a solution?

I’m frustrated that FF is going to the dogs

Inappropriate?I contacted Norton/Symantec support about it, and they provided the solution... upgrade to Norton 2009. Apparently it has a fix for the Firefox 3.x freezing/hanging/not responding issue.
And it worked! With Symantec Norton Internet Security 2009, at least the hanging and lagging issues have vanished.
I’m thankful that Symantec solved the problem

Inappropriate?Patricia Patton:
So your browser crashes when you're on eBay? If not, that message is just about an issue with the website code for that eBay page, the 'font' was declared improperly (and as the validator shows there are 325 errors on that eBay page).
Can you open about:crashes in Firefox (type about:crashes into the Location bar) and copy the crash ids? Also, please try Configuring ZoneAlarm and see if that helps. -
Hi-the problem is a Zone Alarm Security and Firefox conflict-just stared when I updated to the newer versions(I have been using both for years)
but when I shut down Zone Alarm both Firefox and Explorer work fine-(and they are both configued to be allowed in Zone Alarm-I will check on their site for a resolution to the problem thank you
