Inappropriate?Hi my name is Josh (:myles7897), I volunteer giving support at Live Chat, http://support.mozilla.com/chat.
Firefox shuts off your computer? I have never heard of this. When does it do it? Any pattern?

Firefox support can be found in the form of a knowledge base, you can ask a question at support.mozilla.com, visit our chat room at irc.mozilla.org #firefox, or just post here at Get Satisfaction.
I’m shocked at this behavior.

Inappropriate?Certain links have also caused my computer to shutdown in Firefox3. It's not a blue screen reboot as i have my computer setup to not reboot on errors. The said problem links will shut it down every time and only in Firefox. I've tried to reproduce the shutdown in Opera, Internet Explorer and even Google Chrome and they work fine. Firefox 3 being my favorite browser I hope you figure out what may be causing this.
My system
GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM-S2H mother board
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ Brisbane 2.9GHz 2 x AM2 65W Dual-Core Processor
4 GB G.skill memory
Windows XP OS -
Inappropriate?What are the links?

It happens a lot on Digg. I just clicked on the >iPod nana 4G leaked really-real spy shot< link and my computer rebooted. -
OK just about every link on Digg reboots my computer in Firefox, I tried the same links in Opera, IE and Google chrome and they worked fine. I have no idea what's going on but it might have something to do with the mother board or cpu. I read on another forum about someone having the same thing happen and they had the same mobo and cpu. -
The link to the other person having a similar problem.

Inappropriate? My firefox 3 shuts off the computer (laptop) every half an hour or so. When I restart it starts normally. Until yesterday I thought the fault was in the hardware, but then I discovered I could browse the web normally with explorer. I haven't discovered any pattern in what website I am on when it shuts down, I might be watching an youtube video and it would shut down in the middle of the video, or posting on a forum and it would shut down when I am typing a post.

Inappropriate?I also have Firefox 3 rebooting my computer when I click on certain links. Also does not occur in IE7, Opera, or Chrome. This is a black screen of death, and it happens right when I click a link. Often on CNN, but also others.
Example link, it just did this.

Similar to James' message, my system:
GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM-S2H motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ AM2 65W Dual-Core Processor
4 GB memory
Windows XP OS
Have used Firefox2 for some time, never once did this occur before Firefox 3.
