firefox - there is a cursor on each web page that ruins scrolling. any help?
for some reason there is a cursor that persists on webpages as i browse. when you scroll, the cursor moves down the right side of the page jumping from one tabbed item to the next. browsing is a pain in the ass as you can't scroll normally with the arrow keys.
this is not happening with my other browsers.
i am on a mac.

Inappropriate?Hmmm... I'm using Firefox (2.0.0.6) on a Mac and not seeing this problem. What version are you using? Or could it be a setting?
I’m perplexed

Inappropriate?Hi amy. i know thor from his RRL work with pivotal. seems you have a new addition arriving soon! congrats!
its a setting definitely, but i just cant figure out what is going on. imagine the browser thinks every webpage is an editable document and puts a right justified blinking cursor on the page that tries to move down the page as you use the arrows. since i ain't a developer, i have no idea why this would be happening. its a minor irritation, BUT its all the sudden plaguing my GFs mac and she's a little pissed at me because i keep installing add-ons and such that she doesnt use.
I’m hopeful because someone said something!

Inappropriate?Weird. I'll ping the rest of our team and see if anyone has any ideas what the setting could be and how to fix it.
Thanks for the congrats! -
Inappropriate?I think I've got your solution. There is a cursor keys setting underneath Advanced > General settings. See below:

You probably turned on 'Caret Browsing' by mistake. F7 key toggles the Caret Browsing mode ON/OFF. It is an accessibility feature documented at http://www.mozilla.org/access/features. -
Inappropriate?I had the same problem and found this page in search of a solution. Thanks to tommyp for asking and Cameron for providing an answer.

Inappropriate?I think both Mahesh Asolkar and Cameron Walters got this. This is a mode called "caret browsing" that's used for keyboard-only navigation.

http://www.mozilla.org/access/keyboar...

http://lifehacker.com/software/featur...
As Mahesh Asolkar suggested, this mode can most easily be toggled with the F7 key - when it's on, a cursor's displayed, and a lot of navigation behaviors work differently to make keyboard navigation sufficiently precise to reach any text or image on the page, save for those that are displayed by a plugin. -
Inappropriate?Thank you so much. I walk away from my laptop to answer the door, my little girl starts "typing" and next thing I know there is a cursor everywhere in Firefox. Thanks for the quick and easy fix!
