Inappropriate?Have you tried running Firefox in Safe Mode to see if that makes it run any better?
And if you want two Firefox windows open, go to the first Firefox window, click File, and click New Window. This will open a second window. You don't need to run Firefox twice, it sounds like you installed it again to a different location to try to run two copies?
As well, if you could tell us what extensions you have installed (use Extension List Dumper if you can), that would be appreciated.

Inappropriate?Adding new information to: Having Issues With Firefox 3 Again
I only have one copy of Firefox 3. This is the message that I am getting, it has changed since I posted the issue
"Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system."
I just tried to open two separate browsers at the same time (1) by clicking the desktop icon letting one open then clicking on the same desktop icon (2) by clicking in an open Firefox 3 browser on File then on new window. (3) by pushing on both Ctrl and N at the same time on my keyboard. I got the above message all three times.
I even restarted my computer like it says in the message and repeated all three again and got the same message. Then I did all three again in safe mode and again got the same message all three times.
I can live with out being able to tile two browsers. now what about the browser's jitters the repeated pausing stop and go that i can't and will not just let happen.
Oh yes to add to this I had my computer tech come over and totally go through my computer Yesterday he was here from 7am till 12:35 am (yes am not pm.) He found nothing wrong with my computer's hardware or the operating system he even reformatted the computer's hard drive back to factory state. and ran Firefox on a secure network with out any security and it did the same thing for him and it took the Firefox 3 browser exactly 2 minutes and 18 seconds to open, once he double clicked the desktop icon. he even said this is not right so he uninstalled it and reinstalled it it ran good until he went to several different web sites then it started acting sluggish then started doing the pausing stop and go thing again he recommended I use a different browser and said I quote him "Firefox has a lot of defects and always has, and probably always will. But hey its free, you get what you pay for." end quote
He suspects the browser has a security issue and has a bug or its picking up a bug , adware, spyware or something during the browsing process causing it to act like it is.
Also I no longer have Norton security on my computer. My tech installed a new security program it is a program from ca the tech said it is the best there is out there right now. I know one thing it is 1000% faster than Norton Off topic here, it took my Norton 6 hours to run a full system scan every time. with this new ca program it takes 10 minutes max.
Thank You.
I’m Hopping to get a solution to my Firefox 3 issue

Inappropriate?Well, I don't know where you work, but where I used to work we used CA eTrust (which is now just CA Anti-Virus), the same software you're using now. I had no issue with Firefox and multiple windows. The interesting thing is, my boss hated Firefox because it wasn't Internet Explorer. He'd make fun of it towards other employees, spreading lies and FUD because he just didn't want to have to support other browsers. I wouldn't lie like that, but it is scarily common for techs to just say "hey, I don't want to figure out what it is, I don't get paid to support Firefox, so I'll just tell our people Firefox is bad". Nevermind the number of free tools techs use, they'll still say "you get what you pay for" and things like that. So I would go ahead and take what your tech said with a grain of salt. I'm glad Norton is off your machine, that always caused me (and the other techs I talked to) a ton of headaches. Even the official uninstaller tool doesn't get everything!
I'm passing this post around to try to figure out what's going on, but
The 2 minutes 18 seconds to start thing, that's a bit odd, I have never heard of such lag. I'm guessing the tech backed up your files and stuff before reformatting? When he put them back, there's a chance it restored some corrupt file somewhere. You might want to try a clean reinstall for Firefox, most likely the tech used the regular uninstall which might miss a few things. Let me know if that helps, it WILL remove your bookmarks and history and if that's an issue you can use the super awesome mozbackup tool to create a backup before you do the clean reinstall. -
He did a clean install of Firefox 3 from the Firefox 3 website. he also did clean install with a lot of other programs too only saved my info and re added it after the install and security scans of my information he made sure everything was clean before he put it in and back on my computer. the Firefox ran great at first after the clean install but started running sluggish and started doing that pausing thing again after he went to sites like Yahoo, Google Excite, Myspace, Facebook Tagged , and a few other sites. -
I don't know what Tagged is but for me the address bar does lag for a few minutes until the database gets really put into memory, then it's fast. So if Firefox ran great after the clean install, try the clean reinstall to remove the profile stuff he added back when restoring your user data. It should help. -
Inappropriate? He didn't add anything to Firefox just installed it and started browsing the net. He uninstalled and reinstalled it again just before he left. I added some add-ons fox flags, forcatsfox, addblock plus, colorfultabs, Gmail Notifier, and download helper. fyi:Tagged is kind of like Myspace.
I’m Loving Firefox 3, but its not being very nice to me
